Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Wednesday 21st Sept. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Early start for me today, I couldn't sleep so came down to make a cuppa & have a browse.
The pink baby blanket is finished, I'll put a pic on my blog tonight if I get chance, next I want to knit my DD some wrist warmers for Christmas with some recycled sari silk yarn if it feels soft enough, I ordered a ball each of recycled sari silk, cotton & banana skin yarn, £2.95 each, very expensive for me, but I'm hoping to mix them with cheaper yarn to make them go further.
Spag bol for tea tonight, hubby's packup is LO roast beef sarnies, mine is a box of sardine salad with HG veg.
We heard yesterday that SIL has been posted to Afghanistan for another tour, fingers crossed he returns safe.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow
Apologies for spelling - balancing computer and puppy on my knee whilst other dog gets jealous and leans in to my arm (dead arm resulting!!!) - and tries to type with his nose on the keyboard. Up early this morning as puppy (Daisy) awake and yowling. So done the childrens trousers for school - those that are dry - and am decluttering a coffee. Found second cat last night - he has taken the hump over the pup and prefers to live in a house a few doors away, so I'm keeping him in for a good week or so. Luckily we have upstairs and the pup can't climb stairs yet.
Tonight is our first action packed night - swimming class at 5 - 5.30 and then Beavers 6 -7 so not sure what tea might be - possibly sandwiches / cheese on toast - will have to be something light and then a quick something when we get back from Beavers. Taking pup to the vets for first vaccinations today and then will delve in freezer and realistically menu plan - so that we have something that fits our lives, not just what fits my freezer!! Then I think I need to start stocking up again - I'd started to run stocks down, thinking I was being silly, but in view of the weather predictions over the last few days........
Hugs to all xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0 -
Good Morning Hester and ESMF x

I have the Nursery run todo with Mooloo's DGD and then DD and I are off to MK to have a browse and start to think about Christmas:eek::eek::eek: Then it is lunch with my midwife friend for lunch and a cuddle with her baby.
Jackie O - I hope your arm is feeling better today.
Hugs for an OS day xI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
Morning Hester, esmf & Molly - & those yet to surface
Just about light here, dry & reasonably mild - got to change my bed today so hope it stays dry. Need to do car insurance as well - renewal is £270, but online search shows same company offering me £185 - bonkers! :rotfl::eek:
Very behind with winter & Christmas prep, so hoping to crack on with a few of those jobs, too, including filling storage boxes with non-perishables.
Have a good morning all, hugs & kisses all round & have a good morning.

Morning all!
Yesterday was a tough day although I don't feel I got a lot done - probably because, when I look back, I realise I spent about four hours travelling! I was so tired I went to bed and straight to sleep at 8pm last night and have got up to dirty dishes in the sink this morning(
Today's plan is to have a quick run round the house this morning to make sure all the dailies have been caught up. Then I'm going to spend 2 x 45 mins on the Flylady lists posted here. I didn't do any yesterday (although the cleaner-who-needs-sacked did come in) so I shall do 45mins on yesterday's list and the same on today's.
I need to make a wee run to the local shop for veg for tonight's tea (don't know what the rest of it's going to be yet) and make sure I make a start on the laundry as the bed was changed yesterday. Looks like a stormy day in Glasgow so it'll have to be TDed I think although there may be some space on the airer I don't like doing the big items on there as they take so long and it usually means TDing other things while I wait for them.
When the chores are done I may pop up to visit M&D and see if we can sort out our diaries - we've got one car between three of us at the moment and various plans a-cooking.
Hope everyone has a productive, OS day.Household: Laura + William-cat

Morning everyone,
Feeling really tired this morning, seem to spend all day at work running round and never seeming to catch up with myself. I have a lot of marking to do today and not a lot of time in which to do it!
Tonight I am going out to a friends house for tea. Her OH is away and she is cooking for about 5 of us so we should have a good girly giggle.:D
Tea tonight for everyone else is spaghetti bolognese from the freezer.
Think I might risk the washing on the line today.
Hugs to all that need them.
Have a lovely day everyone.:)0 -
Hi everyone; it's a bit cool here this morning but the sun is on its way up so I hope to get some washing on the line. DH has just left for work, so I need to clear away the breakfast things and prep the ingredients for dinner tonight - shepherd's pie so that won't be too taxing on the early morning brain!
I have a lovely (not) pile of ironing that has been looking at me for days, so I'll put it out of its misery later. I also need to make some bread, so I'll get that going in a minute.
I have a bit more paperwork to do but not much; if I'd made more of an effort over the last couple of days, it would all have been done and dusted, but I keep getting distracted!
Well, I hope everyone's day goes well, and that the sun shines on you all.

Morning all, damp and missle here today, quite dark as well.DGS parking permit hasn't arrived as yet so i have to park out in the road so he can park on the drive (got some black looks from across the road neighbour as she gets cross if I don't park on my drive but in the road that I pay road tax on(she is a bit of an odd bod really so I try to ignore her)I emailed to council to ask what had happened to the permit renewal that I had sent off in late August and received a reply to say it was issued last Friday and would go out first post monday to arrive by at the lastest Thursday No wonder Royal mail is in a mess its only got to come from Chatham about 3 miles away Still fingers crossed it will arrive today as Dannys permit has run out.I can get a visitors one for him as he pops in to see me at night and to park at our local station would cost him £5.00 per day on top of his £120 per week fares to work.He can't get to the station anyother way from where he lives in the country side.Well school run today then off to the clinic for some more therapy on my arm .I told the nurse what had happened and all she said was well after the pump has been on and I rewrap your bandages try to keep them on as long as you can before taking them off.Last night I managed until around 9.00.p.m. then replaced them with my sleeve. The thing is even with the treatment there is no cure for lyphodema anyway its just 'manageing' it and controlling the swelling with massage and a sleeve. But I suppose they are trying their best.
Still got my rotten cough after three lots of anti bios don't know what else to do really i have tried all the over the counter stuff as well.Oh well I suppose it will go eventually.
halfway through another week the time is flying by,Saw a C******s add on t.v. the other day ,a bit too soon I think, confuses the children a bit .Right off for a shower and some breakfast
have a good day everyone whatever you may be up to
Cheers JackieO xxx0 -
What am I doing up at this hour? You have all put me to shame, when I get on here sometime in the afternoon and find out what time some of you get up. So here I sit, with a mug of industrial strength coffee, waiting for my brain to get into gear and the day to begin.:)
Its very grey and damp this a.m. Or is it always like this at this time? Anyway it means that I can crack on with my typing and maybe a morsel of housework. We didnt have our slowcookered pork chops yesterday owing to the constant interruptions, so I had planned that for today. However, have just found out that OH is going to the church lunch club, and what are they having? Pork chops. Of course. Think I will have to cook them anyway as they have been out of the freezer since Sunday.
Good heavens! The recycling lorry has just been. I've never seen that before.
Have a good day everyone. There are a lot of people on here who are more than overdue for a good day.I believe that friends are quiet angels

Morning all,
Damp here, been raining most of the night, and set in for today too, off to work for me. DD is off to college, although she is still full of cold, bless her.
Dinner tonight will be carbonara, the chicken from yesterday would not stretch for 2 nights, and I have some slices of ham to use up, so carbonara it is.
Dazi so glad your sister is ok xx
Will do a wash tonight and put it on the airer, kitchen and lounge are tidy, but will have a quick swipe round before I go.
Jackie O hope your poor arm starts to improve soon xx
Jackie G how is ds getting on ??
Have good days all xx0
