If you don't have it anymore I would ring HO anyway - tell them how upset you have been by the treatment you received when asking the branch to abide by one of their own policies.0 -
Is it worth trying if you accepted a refund at the time after a very lenghty debate!!!!!!!!!!
I think your chance of dtd has gone once you have accepted a refund but you certainly have a right to object to being treated rudely in store and compensation may be payable in the form of a moneycard with a little something on it.
Either way, it's got to be worth a phone call - I find T's customer service staff at HO to be very good generally. If you're not scared, you're not paying attention0 -

You should definitely contact customer services HQ. I sent them an email after a disagreement in store re DTD. They called me back and apologised. They sent me a letter again apologising and stating in black and white that it is Tesco's policy to give Double the Difference in every instance that there is an overcharge regardless of the reason. They also sent a gift card with a refund I should have recieved!
I will be keeping the letter in my handbag to produce if it ever happens again. Stick to your guns. You are entitled to Double the Difference!Getting married Saturday 12th July 2014 :smileyhea

I know how you feel. I felt the same. I nearly cried on the way home actually. She pretty much accused me of trying to steal when I asked her 'shouldn't it be Double the Difference?'
I'm glad i've got this letter that Head Office sent to me so now if it happens again i'll wave this letter under her stupid pointy nose!!Getting married Saturday 12th July 2014 :smileyhea
