Depends on the policy of the store manager, and its a 'lucky dip' who serves you too!!
Some say 'oh thats a bargain, might get some myself' others say 'we cant sell anything thats 1p, it has to be chucked in the bin'
Yesterday I had an odd encounter where I found a box of these surprise bags on the top shelf. I asked a SA to help me get the box down safely, he offered to check the price, came back and said they shouldnt be selling them and that they should have been put in a skip! But had talked to a manager, and apparently I had to say how many I wanted before he was allowed to show me the price!!!....lucky for me I had MSE intelligence behind me and had a good idea they were 1p, so I explained that I was buying them for the school, and as they had been overlooked and were doing to be thrown out anyway, I would like them all:T
Now if I had handled it differently, or spoken to a different person, the packs would have been destroyed, and our PTA would not have some lovely prizes!
I wish they had a clear policy, I know some people take a copy of a news paper article as a back up, but its not from head office and could still be refused as evidence.
Many things must be wasted when they would be appreciated by schools or other charities:( Its a waste and a real shame.0 -
You'd think the Government would do something about all the 'wasted' products wouldn't you. I know they recently did something about food and arranged for some of it to go to charities but it really needs to be expanded. Surely nothing should be destroyed. My local Homestore threw the entire Halloween range into the skip without even trying to sell it off in a sale! Total waste!, no wonder Tesco never make any profits!0

Looby hun. which store did you find them in, would love to find just one for dd.
I went into 3B store today and found the 10p fox's tempations today, was quite a few packs left. I think I spotted some other MSErs looking for them in the biscuit aisle but they were in such a hurry they whisked off before I could point them in the right direction.
I found two of the pencil tins with the marshmallows in, cars one was 1p and the micky mouse one was not on file, went through self serve and the till went crazy so I called over the sa who checked the file and said she would put it through at 10p if I wanted it which was lovely of her.
Nothing else reduced, tried to find the mugs but the description delicate flower print wasn't very helpful as most of their mugs have some sort of flowers on lolComping wishlist for 2017

Is this legal in tescos a 5 pack of mars limited edition triple chocolate bars £1.75 but if you open the packet and scan the 5 bars seperatly they scan at 10p per bar. the question is, is tescos cheating you or are you cheating tescos

That is a good question.
I'm often confronted by a similar scenario.....
When they have no loose onions only prepackaged packs of three, which would be much cheaper by weight if not in their little net!0
