I don't think these are the kind of responses op is looking for :D

On the contrary dear Arcor5, every experience is a valuable insight. Ours was really bad, and to the tune of £360. Worth the hassle of court and angry about the attitude too, to be honest.
  • I have no problems with Groupon either (so far :) )

I did cancel one offer (within the 7 days) as a hotel couldnt fit us in on 3 dates we gave them - Groupon refunded quickly.

We had a poor (but not awful) experience at a restaurant and wrote to Groupon to explain the problem - even though we werent asking for anything fro them, Groupon credited our account with £10 as a result.

Good company !! - but you have to understand the concept it operates and follow the T&Cs if you need to cancel anything.

Yes but was it Groupon's fault the experience was bad, or the establishment with whom the deal was with?

I would consider amounts of much less than that worth the hassled of going to court.

You haven't yet shared your experience with us? I for one would be interested :)

    Probably the bit about cancelling?

    Quote:
5.4 Right to cancel: Once we send you the Voucher, you may cancel the transaction at any time within 7 working days from the day after the day that you receive the Voucher (where a working day is any day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or English public holiday). If you do want to cancel, you must do so by sending us an email to tell us you are cancelling to: support@groupon.co.uk or writing to us or sending us a fax - in each case, always provided of course that you have not yet redeemed the Voucher.
So what experience have you had with Groupon? Maybe somebody could advise also.

well its a bit difficult to follow their tc&c'c when you use the voucher then wait nearly 2 months for a product to come that DOESNT meet its advertised standards!!!!

well they hadn't explained their problem at that point.
In fact they haven't really explained their problem at all!!

The person with the straighteners has a problem with the supplier not Groupon I would have thought.

  • As I just posted in another thread:
I have had some excellent deals from GroupOn but also many complaints (2 offically upheld by ASA), the latest of which will stop me using them again.

Essentially the merchant decided not to honour the deals (car valet, I'd bought 2 at £15-50 each) and simply said "ask groupon for a refund".

I've emailed Groupon 3 times, starting about 3 weeks ago. The first received an automated reply, the others no response. I've tried to speak to GroupOn by phone several times and you just get cut off after 30 minutes (yes, THIRTY minutes) on hold.

I shall try one last letter - which will take even more of my time, then I shall take them to court or try to get a refund via other means.

The small amount is not the point and the small claims procedure is pretty easy to use and available online at https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk/web/mcol/welcome. of course, no point in using it if the defendant has no money

I supose I will address the claim to their owning comapny and registered address which they state is:
MyCityDeal Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales whose registered office is at No.1 Liverpool Street, London, EC2M 7QD, England
  • I had exactly the same experience as picnic, in fact there is another thread on this form, o spa groupon postal scam there are LOADS of us had very bad experiences, yes not all of it down to groupon but they certainly havent helped matters, and they wrongly advertised a product.

All I would say about your legal route is its very very rare that a Groupon deal is enough money to be worth taking to court over. ..... the majority of the deals on offer are less than £100 so I am intrigued as to what you are going to court for.

That's a great point - for most people the amount is too small to be worth the hassle - even though they feel very aggrieved, and have been dealt with badly. Do Groupon capitalise on this, knowing that there is no cheap legal route for an individual? If they can keep the ££ from thousands of aggrieved customers a day, they have no incentive to smarten up their attitude.

Is it worth trying to fix that, or should we all just walk away grumbling to ourselves?
