Taking Groupon to court

Options
Hi,
We have decided to take Groupon to court, as their policy of no refunds leaves us no choice. If anyone else has had experience of doing this we would love if you could share your thoughts with us.

If there are enough dissatisfied customers we would like to launch a new website detailing everyone's experiences, and explaining the best way to deal with Groupon, and how to use the law to get your money back.

Sorry - nothing but positive feedback for GroupOn.

I have purchased a fair few items through them, and have never experienced a problem as yet.

    Give us examples.
  • I agree, those of us with grievances against groupon and/or associated companies are understandably a bit untrusting at the moment!!!

I purchased a voucher for hair straightners from groupon, cost £15, item was 'ment' to be worth £99. took over 2 months for them to be delivered. little to no contact info with suppliers, now returning them as they are not as advertised. how do I get back the £15 I spent with groupon? never mind hoping i get the rest that I paid via the suppliers (another £23)

I like Groupon alot. I've used them on numerous occasions and find them very good value. The problem Groupon has is they offer deals for thousands of companies that they have no personal control over. For instances you can often get a cheap deal for a good restaurant, however Groupon don't personally guarantee that the quality of the meal will be good. Its the deal provider who cooks the meal and provides the experience.
Therefore with this business model you are always going to get isolated people who are disgruntled with their groupon deal. All I would say about your legal route is its very very rare that a Groupon deal is enough money to be worth taking to court over. I saw a kitchen deal for £2k one but the majority of the deals on offer are less than £100 so I am intrigued as to what you are going to court for.

That's interesting you mention their terms and conditions. What bit of their terms and conditions did you follow then?

    Probably the bit about cancelling?
5.4 Right to cancel: Once we send you the Voucher, you may cancel the transaction at any time within 7 working days from the day after the day that you receive the Voucher (where a working day is any day that is not a Saturday, Sunday or English public holiday). If you do want to cancel, you must do so by sending us an email to tell us you are cancelling to: support@groupon.co.uk or writing to us or sending us a fax - in each case, always provided of course that you have not yet redeemed the Voucher.

So what experience have you had with Groupon? Maybe somebody could advise also.
