Taking Groupon to court

Sounds more like an anit-groupon crusade than anything and should probably be in vents board.

You seem very, very keen to dismiss any criticism of Groupon, either as not worth someone's time, or questioning the legitimacy of someone with a grievance - you sound like you've already entrenched yourself to defend Groupon regardless of the circumstances - anyone would think you worked for them!

You're trying to shut this thread down or get it moved out of sight?

Why don't you just relax a little, and let people air their views?

    Not at all.

We're well into page 2 and only just discovered the second posters experience. Yours still remains a secret, so yes i'm dismissing your views on groupon -- because they have no substance and you fail to substantiate your views.

Also considering your in the consumer rights board saying you are taking them to court, naturally people would think you want advice on how to get them to play ball or whether you actually have a caase or not.

I don't think you can say just because a high number of posters have had bad experiences with groupon show that groupon are a bad company. They have over 60 cities/towns in the UK now offering deals every day (sometimes 2 deals). Each deal seems to sell in the hundreds every day. Thats thousands of groupon vouchers issued every day the majority of which lead to satisfied customers. As always with these things its a small vocal minority of customers who are complaining. You will never get 100% satisfaction and as the number of customers Groupon deal with it so high then you are always going to get a few unhappy people.
As i've said before on these posts, its not Groupon's fault if a company refuses to honour a deal they have signed up for. When this has happened to me (once) Groupon have always refunded and apologised.

I suspect the OP is reluctant to provide details of his dispute as it has happened because they have not read something properly.....

have to agree with what kathy has said... yes you can get a refund on a voucher within 7 days... but it took over a week for me to be able to use the voucher! the over 2 months for the item to be recieved, (this included several emails to the supplier, these were not found on their web site but this one!) also with contact with groupon (also not on their web site but via facebook!!) the straightners were not as advertised (less heat and short lead) so now after all this time Iv had to send them back and pray that I can get a refund from ospa and a refund for the original £15 from groupon.

I would never have bought the voucher if the advert had been honest in the first place.

and why are groupon not checking with the companys they advertise that they can supply what they offer???????????????????

You seem very, very keen to dismiss the questions as to what is your problem with groupon and what action have you already taken with it.

Nobody can help or advise with your generic ranting. Explain the problem from start to finish an then you will receive advice about what to do and the best way to proceed rather than people's opinions about groupon and their services.

"Fault" is an odd one to call here...It may not be their fault *directly*...but it's still their problem.

And, let's face it, they're the one you're buying from...they're the one that's getting 50% of whatever you pay...So, frankly, they're the one I hold responsible when things go wrong...they should vet prospective vendors to ensure they will make good on the deals.

Groupon are too quick to wash their hands of the whole thing and say "it's between you and them" - but it's actually between you and groupon - as that's who you bought the thing from.

So if you buy a sealed bottle of coke from a shop, which is in date but you find a stone in it? You complain to the shop?
No, you complain to Coca Cola.

    I agree!!

With that said, I have had an ok experience with them, could be because it has been within the 7 days. There was a time they had a home cleaning offer but AFTER the offer had expired they (or the company) decided to ask for congestion charge fees and parking fees and then the offer became less attractive, I sent an email asking for a refund as it was a change of the contract I had entered and all was good, a couple of other times I have cancelled but again I think it was within the 7 days, although reading this is making me tread more carefully, I was thinking about the clear teeth braces for about £400, but I may end up with some medieval contraption, lol

No, you complain to Coca Cola.

I would take the bottle back to the shop, show them the stone and ask for another, or maybe a refund if I'd lost my thirst

The problem with your suspicion is that it's completely wrong. We had a a problem with several Groupon vouchers we were unable to redeem, for various reasons - supplier was always busy and couldn't get booked, codes didn't work online, cancelled experience. In every case the customer service experience was dreadful - emails not answered, or when answered taking 3 weeks to reply, can't get through on the phone, and ultimately a refusal to refund the money paid. Having a stockpile of genuine grievances has led me to the conclusion that legal action is my only recourse.

Yes, Groupon have thousands of customers every day, but that doesn't absolve them of all responsibility to those who are unhappy. Why shouldn't the "small vocal minority" voice their grievance, and why are you so keen for them not to complain?

It may not be Groupon's fault when a deal isn't honoured, but it definitely is their responsibility, and a responsibility which they obviously don't take seriously.

Why are you such a vocal Groupon defender, when you don't even know the circumstances of someone's grievance?
