  • Was just about to post about how much I hate Christmas and all the carp that goes with it, but then I read Lula's post, offered advice an now think I should take some of it myself! :rotfl::rotfl:

No need to display how well you are doing, if you need to shout about it your proabably not doing that well.

Its one day, with a big dinner!

And best of all I have no need to buy a ridiculously expensive gift for an OH as I don't have one!! :rotfl:so its all very MSE.

On another point I am finacially better off now than I was living with exOH as well, this might sound strange but I no longer have to buy things I normally wouldn't, so my monthly shop now comes in at about £150 (but have £200 budget) not £400+ that it was then!! how did we ever need that much food....

And there is the little treats that I used to buy on the way home, little treats could be anything from chocolate to ps3 games! Just to show I loved him, shouldn't have needed to do that anyway.

    Reality dawns......

Very much a ramble but it has taken me a few days to get this through to myself (all triggered by the fact that it was exOH bday at weekend) so need to remember it.

Thanks for your thoughts, didn't want to be maudling on here over the festive period so I am not going to be now. Needless to say exOH has ignored me completely and now has a new OH who apparently is living with him....why don't they just tell the truth! rant done.

Have been reasonably good on the not over spending side of debt free journey but have been dire at making any extra money, some how my hearts just not been in it. Have done loads of reading though.

Need to get back on track, the first thing I need to do is catch up with everyone elses diaries, so that is what i intend to do this evening, more likely tonight due to the fact i appear to have either insomnia or terrible dreams at the mo.

Hope everyone else had a fantastic festive period

  • Hi Freshair

Glad to see you back. Sorry to here about exOH, sometimes they just can't tell the truth which would be easier in the end. You want to moan though, go ahead. It is your diary after all and that's what we are here for, to help you along.

Tell me about insomnia, I was awake until 3.30am on Sunday and had to get up for work at 7.30am on Monday morning so that wasn't good. Needless to say I was in bed at 9.30 last night so didn't have time to catch up with everyone.

    Take care.

  • Hi Freshair!

FINALLY caught up with your diary. Sounds like your doing really well on the money front. Well done on all your NSD's! Try not to let the ex get to you (easier said than done i know) BUT you ARE better off without him. Both financially and emotionally by the sounds of it.

Chin up... Will not leave it so long to catch up next time :) xxx

  • Thanks for all the support, I am actually happy today! feel like things are going a bit more my way, feel like interacting a bit more with peeps so think that is all for the better. Work as predicted has gone absolutely manic hence the lack of time on here, my balancing act isn't going well with the time management, but energy consulatancy and insulation always manic in the winter, quieter in the summer.

I have been reading other peoples diary's and am still, collecting in my change jar, and having NSD's and have a table top sale booked, for nearly new clothes and jewellery, erm have plenty i could sell!!!!!!!

More positives is that the debt is going down slowly but it is going in the right direction, and I DIDN'T ADD TO IT OVER CHRISTMAS! I think that is a first since I left uni, maybe started uni but anyways its at least 10 years.

    So steps forward....
    1. Stay positive and happy
    2. Get work under control so there is a balance again
    3. Socialise more but cheaply, have a night out arranged for Saturday, and a birthday party in a couple of weeks so good start
    4. Decide whether things are going anywhere with the boy, not sure they are but its fun and thats what I need, so I might strike this from the list (THINKING ABOUT THIS)
    5. Keep my lovely little home tidy for the whole year, going well so far but it is only the 10th Jan :)
    6. Get off my rear end before i get sooooooooooooooooo lazy i can't get off the sofa because I have expanded into a hippo, which is possible with the current exercise to food ratio even though I am only an 8 atm!
    7. FAR MORE IMPORTANTLY THAN ANYTHING ELSE..........ENJOY MY LIFE, its mine and its the only one i am going to get

Thats all for now, will try and update with exact debt busting numbers, but work and the thought of a bonus is probably better persued for the next month or so, and as long as it doesn't go up.

Thanks everyone, whether you post or not there are plenty of you here who have been a massive inspiration

  • All i have to say today is 13 hour days should be banned! on the plus side no time for spending so another NSD :)

Working a bit more today, waiting for contract confirmation fingers crossed for project winning.

Have ordered and received my online banking details for my Barclays account, well not really an account more an overdraft, it has been like that since 2004 which is a long time ago, but its going in the right way, just over £100 being paid off every month, when Mr Branson has had his last ever bit of my money, next month, then the extra will go against this over draft, interest is horrendous!

    Plan for today,

Work and then quality time with DS as have hardly seen him all week, silly job :)

  • la la la below £9500!!! hasn't been that low before I met DS's dad that was about 10 years ago so muchos kudos to all you lovely peoples on here for the help.

As I have £500 in my emergency fund have now reduced the DD to £50 per month for a few months until we get a bit more settled then back up it will go again.

This extra £50 will go towards...........err the ridiculous was Egg now Barclaycard card, after many a 'mistake' on their part in the last 2 months it must go, but what I want to do first is combine the now 2 barclaycards i have and try and get a LOB, does anyone think this is worth trying?

Next month Mr Branson will have had the last money that he will ever be getting off me (unless i get a lovely BT offer but thinking thats unlikely). Mr B's money will then go into savings ac number 3 to eventually be enough to pay ma and pa back, but as they said they are bottom of the list but showing willing might help them a bit as well.

Oh and I did buy a shiney new tv, but all in all was a bargain and actually only cost me £50 after christmas and birthday gifts received, oh and i went through quidco so I am slowly but surely remebering to use cashback where possible.

Weekend plans include I trip to my bestest friends house on Friday evening, that will probably result in a large amount of very cheap wine being drunk! So saturday will probably consist of sleep and sofa, until the evening when I am going OUT for a drink or 2 with some friends who have the potential to be good friends. DS is at his dads.

Need to make sure that I leave work on time today so i actually get to see DS for more than half an hour one day ths week
