Many thanks to fnc63 for starting this Advent thread as this must be a massive undertaking.

I always look forward to the Advent comps and I personally think a dedicated thread is a great way for anyone to keep up to date.

Whats the difference between this and the daily thread? Advent dailies are dailies after all and should be posted in the daily thread not on a seperate thread here.

Advent comps go completely crazy in the run up to Xmas. some may be daily, some hourly, some games, etc. It would be very unfair to expect them just to tag onto the Daily thread. I rarely do dailys, but I will be making a big effort to keep my eye on this thread.

We have been very lucky to get a willing [STRIKE]victim[/STRIKE] volunteer to run this thread the last few years. This is a bonus thread that we are allowed as a sticky to help us all comp.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

    I won, I won, I won!
I have to say a Big thanks for this Thread, I do go on the dailies board and think it is a big part of my comping. I strongly disagree with chelsea1969 and find her view rather selfish as she is not willing to help out fellow compers. (seems a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face)
    Thanks to everyone who posts

I do find this harsh as chelsea1969 does post loads of comps and I have seen lots of people in IWIWIW thanking her.

I can not make head nor tail of the dallies (wish I could) but that is my own fault. Good luck to everyone who enters comps from there.

Last year I did manage to enter advent comps as I found them so much easier than dallies.

Thanks ever so much fnc69 for the Advent thread.

lots of people posts lots of comps & lots of people get thanked in IWIWIW,
& i'm not sorry to say but i agree with layla, the majority of posters try to include the links for dailes/weeklies/ if they are that,
& if they're not sure they usually ask/post if anyone can help send/link to the dailies/weeklies & in this case it'll be the advents,

just because someone doesn't like the dailies/weeklies/ whatever surely doesn't mean they shouldn't try to help fellow compers by trying to include the link in thier posts.

eta: sorry, forgot to say, i don't do facebook comps but if i find any in the mags i do post them for others on here, isn't that what mse is supposed to be about, sharing & helping ?

  • As i said my view is mine and their are 2 options I can not post any advent comps I find or I can post them on the main board and someone can add a link to wherever they want ,how am i suppose to add a link if I can not even understand the thread now, so when it gets going then I will not have a clue at all ,If people want to say I am being selfish then fair enough ,your opinion. personally I think I would be selfish if I did not post any comp anywhere which could quite easily be arranged. Selfish or not if I feel (in my opinion) something is not fair then why would I add to it? This is nothing personal against fnc and I applaud him/her for taking so much work on ,it is just my own personal view .If I am selfish for having a view then fine ,I am selfish.

All that is normally done is that a link to the comp thread (posted on Main) is posted at the end of this thread. Then Fnc will update the posts at the front of this thread. Anyone who is following the advent thread would then know that a new advent comp has started, the next time they checked the Advent Thread.

I would normally keep my own bookmarks after finding them thanks to this thread, otherwise I only pick them up as they are nearly ending, so may get just 1 or 2 entries instead of lots of chances.
