Huge thanks to fnc63 for this thread and to all the posters who will contribute to it (I rarely find a comp that isn't already here :o). I am extremely grateful to all comp posters for the time and effort contributed to the forum. Good luck everyone! :):)

(I best start trying to get some extra sleep now, ready for [STRIKE]matchsticks in the eyes[/STRIKE] advent comp time!) :rotfl:
If at first you don't succeed ........ ;) Alternative autism therapies should be free!!
  • Only been doing comps now for a couple of weeks so not sure what advent comping is all about. Could someone please explain.

Advent competitions are where companies award a 'daily' prize most days in December running up to Christmas or new year. xx Best wishes and good luck to everyone, loving the format of this years layout too.
    Wishing you all good luck!

Hi Fnc, thank you for doing this thread.

I just wondered how you will add new links to the thread please? Only I noticed you separated comps out (fab move) and mentioned alphabetical. So I am wondering how I would know if a link was added in the last 2/3 days, (I struggle for time atm with the baby)? And I thought I would ask now rather than when all the comps start rushing in.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

    hi Mamzie

i have done several posts for alphabetical listings as there are so many that mse cannot handle all in a single post

the format is similar to what Toniq did last year, the only difference is i dont really intend on doing colours for current days newbies and previous days new ones, but they should be easy to spot

whilst each post has an alphabetical start/end point they will not appear in alphabetical order, rather the time/date added, so you see the only one [post #4] at present has this

    18/09 22.28 - Skates - E: 24/12

when a new one appears it will go to the bottom of the post, so for e.g wil look like :

    18/09 22.28 - Skates - E: 24/12

    22/09 02.16 - Nivea - E: 25/12

    23/09 18.10 - Zavvi - E: 31/12

so hopefully this will help you easily find any new ones since your last visit

i dont think the site name or end date are particularly important as once you click through to the OP you can make your own notes and save them how you want to, the important bit is easily finding the newest ones and of course i will strikethrough any expired

but of course there is no set rule as to how the posts should be presented, so i am all ears if anyone thinks this is perhaps not the best way to go and/or has any suggestions as how to lay it out better ;)

Apparently everything has a happy ending and if you havent arrived at the happiness, it hasnt ended yet

I love the way you've split the comps up and popping the date added on looks fantastic, thank you so much. It will be really easy to see which ones I've already checked out to see if I'm interested in them.

Ditto. I've no idea how to tweeter an neither has my phone, but I'm working on a seperate FB account (going to DD this weekend armed with laptop!!). I stopped doing them as I was missing things from my family & friendsdue to the amount of rubbish that was there!

Looking forward to building up my presents through this thread.

    Good Luck to all. :T

:T:jThank you to all the competition posters, you are all brilliant! :j:T
  • Whats the difference between this and the daily thread? Advent dailies are dailies after all and should be posted in the daily thread not on a seperate thread here.
