Child Support / Rights & Responsibility of the father

I'm not sure I understand the law on child support in the UK.
I am single and do not want a child, I am only asking these questions out of curiosity following something that got me thinking I saw on TV.
In the U.K what are the rights of the 'father' of a child?
In the U.K what are the responsibilities of the 'father' of a child?
1: If I got a girl pregnant, without being married to her; would I be forced by the law to pay the mother money to support the child? (Or is it possible and if so in what way?)
2: If I got a girl pregnant, without being married to her; would she be able to completely deny me access to the child?
3: If the answer to the above questions is 'yes, she can deny the father access and yes she can legally force the father to pay her money' then is there any way to legally enforce an abortion or does the father have no right to ask the woman to have the child destroyed pre-birth?
I know this thread could end with alot of people saying I'm being vile and offensive, but I'm not in a relationship and do not intend to have a child any time soon. I am just curious about the rights of men when it comes to children.
I think that if a woman has the right to do all these things, without the man having any say in the matter it is dangerious and a system open to abuse (such as the mother using the child as a weapon, to gain money or upset the father). So can someone clear this up for me?
And yeah, use condoms boys!

Yes, the CSA would pursue you to pay for the child.
2: If I got a girl pregnant, without being married to her; would she be able to completely deny me access to the child?
No, you could seek access through court and DNA testing
3: If the answer to the above questions is 'yes, she can deny the father access and yes she can legally force the father to pay her money' then is there any way to legally enforce an abortion or does the father have no right to ask the woman to have the child destroyed pre-birth?
I really hope this is some sort of joke, no you cannot legally enforce an abortion. Moral of the story, keep it in your pants. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
This thread should be in discussion time I'm afraid.
But in answer to your question 1 Yes 15% net
2 Yes or make it nigh on impossible
3 Not legally, it is her body
If you are not in a relationship then get the snip if the aftermath scares you, the only NRPs that are upset are usually the ones that try and fight the system.0 -
Hang on, let me be really clear on this:
I'm not in any way afraid of this happening to me.
I saw something on Jeramy Kyle and now I'm interested about whether the laws surrounding children in the U.K are fair, and currently I feel women have too much power. It looks like they are having their cake and eating it, by having the final say on everything then legally being able to take (as DUTR claims) 15% of the fathers wages.... it seems a bit unfair to me?
Imagion a woman lies and tells a man she is on the pill, has his child then takes him to court to get 15% of his wages, he earns 100k per year and now suddenly for a cheeky one night stand the woman has 15k tax free in her pocket. She also denys the father access. Is this possible?0 -
I don't understand how it's unfair? Take responsibility for your own fertility, this goes for both women and men. People who aren't in any way dating should be using contraception? No?
Anyway I'm not feeding the troll. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -

the pill doesn't guard against STIs so he should still use a condom. she doesnt need to take him to court to get 15% of his wages, the csa will enforce it. it is for the child not the mother. and she cant deny him access unreasonably, the courts will see to that and if hes on £100,000 he will have more than enough money to fight for access.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. How am I trolling? Stop being so offensive, cup cake.
I'm asking a reasonable question about the rights of fathers in the U.K because I do not understand how the law works.
I think you're trying to derail the thread by making personal attacks against me, dispite me making it clear I am single and have no plans to be in this situation. I simply am curious about how the law works as I feel that (as I understand it) the laws are unfairly weighted against the father.0 -
I get the feeling 90% of the people posting in this thread are women.0
