Software is patched (if at all ) by (in this case) HTC, it's then passed to the networks to test and release. Not all networks release all patches and most networks modify the firmware for there own use (either by branding it or limiting features).
I'm generalising. i.e The general consensus of opinion over on the 'geek' forums and other HTC specific resources suggest the issues on some models have been resolved with firmware upgrades and appear to be stable (which is the best one could hope for). However, I always purchase sim free phones outright and use sim only contracts to avoid A: Overpricing and tied into a contract and B: I prefer the generic OS, not a bloated network version.
Whilst I admire Apples marketing and design skills. I'm not a fan of Apples OS and on this occasion feel drawn towards Android.
I have a couple of models in mind and will take a look this week. I may still await the release of the Sensation XE. But only to see if the price of the Sensation is dropped

Puzzled as to why you are asking here if you have been on the xda site. Not much you can't learn there.
I've been a HTC user for years. However, if you're not impressed by the Samsung Galaxy, nobody here can help you decide.0 -

I asked specifically about other sites, then got directed over to the XDA site ?? For the rest of the thread I've been replying to comments posted by other forum members. However, if you're not impressed by the Samsung Galaxy, nobody here can help you decide.
I never asked about the Galaxy, I asked about known problems regarding HTC and where I could find specific info.
However, as mention above, I have all the information to hand and am ready to buy. So bye bye

I am a HTC convert too, I currently have the HD7 (windows phone 7) and it is a really good phone (and o/s). If you don't like windows you can flash it with android too - or dual boot it if you are that way inclined.
I also had the Touch HD which was a truely brilliant phone, way before its time.
I previously have the orange m700 which was also a HTC - fantastic phones - all of them. I had it before the first iphone came out, and even when it did everyone used to look at me with envy -- or ask me "is that an iphone?"
That used to make me chuckle. 0 -
proceed with caution with the Desire HD. My 6 month old one has just been written off after 2 repairs. Now have the Galaxy S2 which is quite frankly horrible and not what i wanted at all.. really want a Blackberry :-(*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200

I've had my HTC Desire since April 10 and have had no problems with it at all. No overheating, no randomly switching off, nothing. I know its a little outdated for you, but just wanted to give give a positive point for HTC.£400+ in my £2 coin tablet fund0

For balance, my 6 month old Desire HD has worked flawlessly since day 1 and continues to do so. Happy to recommend on the basis of my own experience.;)0 -
I've had my Desire HD since May and it's been flawless."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0
