  • Ah thanks Selloptape - i do too! I went back to work today and have started to feel a bit better as the day has gone on so fingers crossed its gone by the weekend!!

Our second viewing went well yesterday and resulted in an offer which was the top of the buyers budget but unfortunately quite a lot less than our asking price..... 25k to be exact! So we have had to politely decline - fingers crossed for someone else coming along :)

    Hi Everyone!

Merry christmas! Hope you all had a good one :) I thought id come and update for probably the last time this year!!

One of the things i like most about this diary is that i can look back at the updates ive made since i started it and see how far i have come. Its one of those things that can make you truly see that life progresses and situations improve and you can see how far you have come and what you hope for the future.

Since i have started this diary, i have bought a new house, ended a long term relationship, started a new relationship, been made redundant, had spinal surgery, spent a year sick off work, travelled a lot, spent a month in India, lost some friends and family members, made some fantastic new friends, welcomed a new family member to the world, cruised around the Med, started a new job (or 3!), put my (now not so) new house up for sale and purchased a new one and will start on the MFW journey all over again!!

Who knows where i will be this time next year?!

I accepted an offer on my house within 7 weeks of it going up for sale so i am absolutely chuffed! We found a house that we wanted but that fell through, but we have since got a much better property in the form of a (currently!) hideous looking bungalow in need of a lot of work but in a fabulous 1/4 acre which has loads of potential!!! My buyer has had their survey done on my house and at the moment everything seems to be going well so hopefully this will mean that we will complete in January sometime. We have managed to buy the bungalow for less than i have sold my house for so thats ££££'s in the bank towards the new project :)

We're hoping to turn our bungalow into a 4 bed house so will be making a start on the plans and architect meetings as soon as we exchange. On a MFW note, our mortgage will be higher than it currently is here (only slightly though! :)), but we are keeping aside the capital to complete the works with a generous contingency so our plan is to remortgage and reduce our LTV right down once works are complete. Hopefully we will be able to OP a little each month (our mortgage costs are reducing by £100pcm) by paying the difference in the mortgage payments so on paper we wont notice the difference at all.

Hope everyone else is getting on well with their MFW journey - it be good to hear everyone elses overviews on 2015! :)

    Happy new year all xx

Hi Crumpets! Ive read through your diary too - youve also had a great journey so far :)

I actually really enjoyed reading back through mine - i love to see progress and also to see how things get better when theyve not been so wonderful so it was quite insightful!!

Today we have started the sorting ready for the move in the new year which is about as exciting as it sounds! Both of our sideboards in the dining room have been cleared out of all the excess paperwork which we have been meaning to sort out for ages (i hate filing!! ;)) so thats one tick in the box! 3 boxes have been packed and our removal boxes have been ordered online...... v MSE :)

I am off work tomorrow so plan to sort out the cabinet in the lounge of all things unneeded and will aim to have an ebay session soon to raise a little cash and declutter in the process! When i last moved in 2010, i made near enough £1600 through selling things on ebay and gumtree although its highly unlikely i'll see anywhere near that this time.

    Still......who knows?!

Wow £1600 is an amazing figure to make, fingers crossed you find some hidden gems that will raise you some extra money. I really need to start the annual decluttering, my mind is willing but my body, not so much :rotfl:

  • WOW you've done so much since you started your diary 4 years ago. I hope that I achieve half as much as you :)

In 2013 we brought a house to do up but with no budget. We are working through it slowly :)
  • Wow just caught up with your amazing journey. What a fantastic achievement. Looking forward to reading about your new house in 2016 :)

Thanks OCC :) Dont know about you, but for me, when you're living life you forget about whats happened in the past and just concentrate on the present. Thats why i love reading back what ive done over the last few years as it reminds me of how far ive come :) I bet youve made loads of progress that you havent even thought about yet!

Thanks Chumpy - we are looking forward to moving in too :) No decluttering has been done today which is slightly naughty although i dont feel too bad as i have plenty of time and my boxes arent due to arrive until tomorrow so im not falling behind really! :j

Today ive been out for lunch with the family - my uncle is over from Spain so it was nice to spend some time with him. We were going to go to the cinema tonight but it was sold out so MSE evening with no spends! :money:

Happy New Year everyone!! Hope 2016 is a good one for you all :)

This is my first post of the year and we have started well - the Xmas tree is down, the ebaying has started and the boxing up has begun :)

My buyers MO is out which is good news, although his solicitors are v slow and havent raised any enquiries yet but hopefully now we are in the new year this will start to speed up a bit!

No OP being made for us now - we are saving up for the new house! MSE wise, we are planning not to buy anything food wise unless it is absolutely essential as we have a 400l chest freezer which is rather full of food and for some reason, what appears to be an entire farm of potatoes so tonights dinner is a gammon, egg and spicy wedges :)
