As well as holidays you also afford OPing!!

Love the fact that your lodger became your OH. Maybe I need to get a lodger ;)

    Thanks Norfolk Dream :)

TBH, me and OH both love travelling, and at the moment we are both contractors so have just decided to take a month off. It would be so much harder if we were permanently employed :)

We are off to Spain in April for a week - im really lucky as a company i used to work for formed a trust for its employees and i get use of their holiday homes around the world amongst other things, for life at the grand cost of £99 a week! We used the Florida ones in November which were amazing and off to Alicante in April. Low cost airlines are my friend most of the time!!

For me, whilst i do OP - i dont OP anywhere near the amount a lot of others on here do, simply because i value my holidays and time with OH more than anything else. I am lucky that i have around £100k equity in my home which was a result of good financial planning, good luck, and good spending! LOL.

Oh, and having the 2nd lodger came in very handy at paying for those holidays! :) Im missing him now hes gone but me and OH are also enjoying the time on our own at the min although its a serious contender to get someone else in Mon-Fri to pay for our India trip.

Well done on your MFW journey - looks like youre doing incredibly well! xx

Well a bonus £43 ended up in my account today following a check on my Noddle account which showed up a barclaycard from 2007 registered at my old address!

I thought id closed it, so called up to check and not only had it never been closed, but also there was £43 credit on it! woop!! :)

So ive just rounded it up in my account and sent £63 OP to the mortgage! Yay!

No OP updates for me today although i may do some account tidying tomorrow

Really pleased that my OH is coming home tomorrow and is currently on a flight as i type! :) I thought he would be away for a month but it appears that the job he was sent to do is a lot further along than was expected so hes coming home! Yay!!

Did anyone do anything nice for Valentines Day? I spent it with my best friend who i mentioned in one of my previous comments - she lost her husband last year just after she got married. We had a lovely night, pizza, wine and cheesy chick flicks :) Followed today by more girly movies, updating ourselves on the lives of friends from the past via facebook and a very lazy day!!!

On a sad note, whilst looking through those profiles, i found that a girl i was good friends with at school had died last year. She was a good friend at school but we lost touch over the years. She had a rough time growing up, with her mum committing suicide and it appears that she has done the same :( Life is so cruel sometimes x

    Hi everyone!
How did it get to be 18 months since I last updated this thread?!

I've had a few changes to my life since the last update :).

The holidays have continued. Those of you who have read my thread will see that I love travelling! Me and oh went to India for a month last October which was amazing. So far this year we have been to Bulgaria on our first skiing trip (incredible) Guernsey for Easter (beautiful) and Spain for 2 weeks travelling to Alicante and Granada to see family. We are off camping to The Peak District for bank holiday next week, to Madrid in September to see family for the weekend and have booked a cruise for 2 weeks round the med in October which I cannot wait for!!!!

Work wise, some of u will remember I had surgery on my back and was out of work for a year. I returned back to work through an agency in oct 2013 and managed to get a fixed term role for a housing association in May 2014 which lasted until dec 2014. All ok there, the role was a bit disappointing, but I managed to get another fixed term role in the maintenance department of the same housing association which has been extended on a monthly basis until now. Yesterday I finally got the news that I have been given a full time permanent contract so I can finally get the ball rolling re remortgaging again!!! Yay!!!!

I tried in October last year but being on a FTC has its limitations and being off work for the year previous meant that it was nigh on impossible to get anything sorted. Some of you will remember that my ex is still on the mortgage so today is the day that I am on the phone to sort that out and get him off once and for all! I'm pretty sure he will be as pleased as I am!

Now that I finally have a permanent role I think me and OH have decided that we will be making a fresh start as soon as we can and will be looking to buy a new place together. Both of us are committed to the OP although I do have to reign in his spending from time to time as he can be a tad compulsive :)

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend and that your MFW journeys are going well. I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders work wise. As I said to OH last night.....I haven't had a permanent role since 2012 when we got together so our lives have always been somewhat on hold as to moving and buying a house. Seems like a new chapter of our book is starting!! Xx

  • Hi everyone

Well, things are progressing - we have had a manic weekend of getting the house clean, tidy and presentable. It is going on the market tomorrow! We have also found a lovely house, needing a ridiculous amount of work, but it will be perfect for us! Fingers crossed it doesnt sell to someone else before we have sold!

So tomorrow is the big day, i love in a popular area, and all of the houses here are sold at the moment so im keeping my fingers crossed that there are lots of buyers around!

    Wish me luck! :) x

  • Well the house is up for sale and we have started quite promisingly with viewings which is exciting. We had 3 this weekend so fingers crossed something positive will come out of that. We have a second viewing on Tuesday too :)

The house we had seen and wanted has now sold :( So we are on the lookout for something else but at the moment nothing is jumping out at us.

The OP fo the mortgage have been put on hold for the time being whilst we are up for sale - as we are looking to buy a wreck it makes sense to save all we can in savings now we know that we will be on the move.

2 weeks to go until our next holiday - i cant wait! Fingers crossed i can shift this horrid cough that some kind soul in the office has passed on to me!!

  • Hi everyone

Well im feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment. The lurgy has gone around the office for the last couple of weeks and i've been feeling crappy since Thursday. So much so that i've been off the last couple of days to try and recuperate. I dont want to be ill for holiday which is 2 weeks today!

We have a second viewing on our house tonight so fingers crossed for some good news. One of the viewers from the weekend liked the house but have seen somewhere else cheaper so we think they will be a no go, and we are waiting on feedback from the others.

Time to start tidying up ready for the viewing this evening!
