Ah thanks Skateykatey! Good to know i have at least 1 reader!

Well done on being MF in the next 3 years!!! That is amazing :)

I actually saw my friend today - we went out shopping and for a coffee. Shes not doing too well - shes finding things really tough right now, but she seemed marginally better than she was when i saw her last week so thats positive. I just told her to take each day at a time - shes doing really well on the outside, and i think she will be ok long term, its just all still so very raw xx

Oh dear. You said the C word :(.

I must get organised. Usually by now I've at least written a list. This year although I've written a list it's only got what I want on it :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Oh I know!! And you know, i normally hate mentioning it!! The C word is not to be mentioned until after my birthday! (first week of December :))

Today has been a good day in some ways but also very sad in others. I managed to get the bedroom walls finished so just the woodwork to do now which i will do tomorrow. I managed to get the shopping done and help BIL with his quest to find a flat in a new city which is positive

But i also saw a friends dad today, she was 24 weeks pregnant and found out last night that the baby had died :( Im so gutted for her. I cant imagine how awful that must be. Shes in hospital now with an unimaginable wait for her little girl to be born :(

Heres to hoping that 2014 will be a much better year for my friends x

    Hi Everyone :)

I cant believe how quickly the last couple of weeks have flown!!!!! Im now back in full time work for the first time in 14 months which is going REALLY well!! I am struggling with remembering how i had the time to do everything when i was working last time though!!! The housework is suffering! LOL

£50 OP to the mortgage today and a couple of account roundings this month. We are looking at possibly moving next year and the house which is the mirror image of mine has just sold at the other end of the street for just under its asking price of £230k which is amazing as i really didnt think it would fetch anywhere near that. Its a little bigger than mine as its had a kitchen extension, but not a massive difference as i have a large kitchen anyway! It'll certainly be an excellent comparable for when i sell anyway! woohoo!!

We are off to Florida 3 weeks today which has also flown round! All of our saving money has been derived from selling bits and bobs and collecting cashback over the year. So we have £1000 to go away with plus any extra that we decide to put in! :)

OH has gone to work today - i really wanted to get our holiday challenge back on track as we missed out in September due to work commitments etc and it looks like weve missed out on October too :( Never mind though - theres always next year!! ha!

    Happy New Year everyone!

I cant believe where the last few weeks have gone! Is it really almost the end of January?!

2014 has been a good start for me - im back in work and its crazy busy but its going well :) A very big difference to this time last year when i was waiting on my operation and struggling to get up the stairs!

As some of you may have noticed, my resolution last year was to keep making OP on the mortgage by as much as i can afford and to go on a holiday a month in 2013 :)

We managed to go away 12 times but actually missed 2 months, so technically there was a break away for each month but not necessarily in the month! :)

This year, our lodger has now gone :( so we have less money coming in, but we are enjoying being on our own. We have just booked a months trip to India, flying into Delhi on 27th Sept and coming home from Mumbai on 25th october :) Cant wait!!!!!

If anyone has been to India, id appreciate any suggestions!! So far our plan is to do 2 weeks in the north and then take a flight down to Kerala and spend 2 weeks getting back to Mumbai for our flight home.

OH's tenant is moving out first weekend of Feb which is a bit of a blow but we have decided to sell the house as it is a 70 mile trip each way for us, so its a bit of a bind. We are hoping to buy something else close by to us once its sold so its a bit easier to keep an eye on.

The thoughts at the moment are whether to get another Mon-Fri lodger in which would help pay for the void period on the mortgage of the BTL house (we can afford it anyway, even without the lodger but we do like to enjoy ourselves and it would mean we dont have to cut back!) but we're just not sure.

Anyway thats pretty much the update for now - no doubt i'll be back with further updates soon!!

And im still waiting on my mortgage statement......surely it must be on its way soon?!

    Hi all

Busy week at work for me this week, especially as i'm working for a very challenging client! But still, the week has flown by :)

OH has been working away last night and is stuck in some horrid traffic on the motorway but im hoping her gets home soon! We are going to London for the weekend tomorrow to see Billy Elliot which Im very excited about! I love musicals!!

Im still waiting on my mortgage statement, but have called them today and apparently my balance at end of Dec was £121,134 which im disappointed about as i was hoping to be at £120,000 or £121,000 - very annoying that i missed out over £134!!!!! gggrrrrr!

Still, i have just made the relelvant OP so i feel a little better now :)

    Morning all!

An early start for me, especially for a Sunday! But OH has left to go to Texas with work, and might not be back for a month so im sat here all alone :( It feels like weve hardly seen each other in ages as hes been working up North in the week for the last couple of weeks.

So, my mortgage statement finally arrived - all 3 pages of it! LOL. God bless all those small OPs! :)

This year is dedicated to making even more small OPs so that my statement is over 4 pages next year! I wonder if i can get my balance to below 105k?

  • Hello I'm another reader :), you have done really well considering the long spell away from work. I know you can get to £150k if you put your mind to it.
