HSBC PPI Claim Success!

  • For the last 2 years i've listened to people saying claim your PPI back also numerous phone calls from various companys saying i could be owed this & that. I knew i had ppi on an hsbc loan & credit card from around 2003 and was told that at the time i had to have ppi as part of the loan agreement. A couple of times ive gone to fill the forms in from different company but soooo much hassle i've binned them. I moved a week before xmas & just before i moved i decided i would give it a go nothing to loose but i came on this site got the forms to fill in & decided to claim back from hsbc themselves not using no outside company. At most i thought if im entitled to anything it will only be 2k max. After the 8 weeks deadline i phone hsbc to find out why i havent heard to which the nice lady told me they have sent me an offer out in the post but she was willing to confirm on the phone what the offer was......at this point she asked if i was sitting down!! I had to get her to repeat it 3 times as i couldnt believe what she said !! the moral of this story sorry for it being long winded is dont use an outside company as you will loose money and if in doubt like i was claim!! I accepted an offer of £10k and am waiting for it to be paid back into my account :-) im one very happy bunny

  • Hi all

It's June 2013 and I've just accepted an offer from HSBC regarding a PPI refund. I've been trying to find out any up to date information about how long it is taking HSBC to actually transfer the mine back into people's accounts but all cat forum threads are about 12 months old or older. The lady in the bank told me HSBC were the quickest at doing ths and it takes a week normally but to allow 28 days. Anyone out there had any personal experience recently? Thanks.

our letter from the bank stated that the £18k would be in within 4 weeks. My £3k was about the same if that helps!
  • Thanks pavilion for your speedy reply, :)sorry to seem a bit daft but are you saying you did receive money within 28 days of your offer being accepted?
  • Thanks, luckily I took the form into my branch and signed it there last Saturday as I had to show ID. They sent it off for me and I went into the branch on Thursday and they confirmed it had been received and filed on the Wednesday (3 days ago), so now I'm just trying to wait patiently.... Would love to hear if anyone has recieved there money within the time scale or if they are still taking months to cough up...:)

Actually, there used to be numerous threads about delays in paying agreed redress on here. Of interest to you may be that HSBC was notable for it's absence from these (very long) threads and also that there don't appear to be any of these threads currently active!
This could mean that people just aren't complaining, but it's more likely the Banks are paying out in good time nowadays.:)
  • Thanks.. I had similar thoughts, hopefully the banks have got their acts together and are paying out a bit quicker these days. I shall wait with baited breath and make sure I post on here when I've recieved my money! I never would have thought to complain if the bank hadn't written to me in the first place, I'm now thinking I should check out the credit card I had with egg a few years ago that got taken over by barclaycard. Thanks for your speedy response :)
  • Just in case anyone else is in my position this time last week and wondering when they will see the colour of their money, today I had my refund credited to my account. That is a total of 4 working days since HSBC recieved my acceptance form.
