SIgh... Looks like mine may be a write off- only 14 months old, given the damage, i/we wont be able to afford the repair bill ourselves, even if its repairable. The other car is less damaged, but they are already claiming whiplash for one of the 5, so we wont be able to deal with their claim outside the insurance anyway. Insurance WILL rocket- unfortunately i had an accident and wrote off my previous car 14 months ago, so already on no no claims, and with potentially 5 people claiming whiplash, this one is gonna be a big claim.
I do need a car at least till i go on mat leave in early december and also to get to my mums (3.5 hrs away)to see her after her op. DH's car due back soon, but i cant drive it, and he wont be able to afford to insure his either after this as it is a high performance job.

:( that really sucks. I guess you just have to try and keep calm, as stress isn't good. Whiplash is such a horrible thing, insurance over here is sky high even with no claims due to the amount of people claiming when they don't have to, society we live in now a days

My upstairs neighbours are having a party, one thing I can't understand is why girls can't TALK to each other, they have to scream in high pitched tones constantly. It's nights like this I'm thankful I'm having a boy :(:(

  • Kira I'm really sorry to hear about your car :(

    Jen, love the sleep suits.
    I don't know how many size 1s
    I've got 6 packs of size 2s
    38 packs of size 3s
    18 packs of size 4s

so 58 packs of nappies that I definitely have and I think I have about 6 packs of size 1s, so maybe 64 packs in total. Averaging 30 nappies per pack roughly that works out at 1920 nappies??? My god that is a scary amount of nappies. At least if I get made redundant the baby will still have a clean bum :o
  • I have a fair few of the size 1's, 2 packs of size 2's and 2 packs of size 3's . . . .but we have bought reusables now so will just use the disposables when out and about and for the first week or so after baby is born. Any left over packs will try and swap and if not will pass to a friend who is due in June

To be frank kira if cart is 14 month old then its worth say at least 6k plus right?. Presumably u got fully comp ins so will get cash back...

With that cash go and get a 2nd hand car.. For 2k and use rest for insurance. Also oh should sell expensive boy racer car for cheaper family car (cheaper ins.. And petrol).

    Wouldnt that work?

neas has a good idea. Get what you can in write-off and scrap for the car, ins will settle the whiplash. Your ins will go up, definitely, :( but consider seeing if you can take out TPFT ins and see if they'll still allow you to accrue noclaims, maybe limit the mileage. Play the family card very strong- buy an estate for 1k or similar. I've never spent over 1400 on a car, and I'vehad some fantastic ones!
So it's a headache now, but will work out in the end.... don't let it stress you out. As long as your DH is alright-the rest is metal and money.

I'm lying on the sofa, with a very grumpy Lab trying to steal my sleeping bag (she has a thing for them). I've actually had a decent night's sleep- 10 whole hours! Yay! Bump has decided it's going to be very hard this morning, is like a rock.

I have the midwife at 0900, then work. Apparantly HO has organised for my replacement to come in today so I can train her..... Should make the day go faster.

Kira poor you, just a stress you didn't need. I agree with the second hand option. You'll have to wait and see what the insurance says first.

Lirin 10 hours sounds fab. Wish I could manage that.

Nesting day today. I like the not being at work thing. Been watching my reusable nappy videos so know what I am doing now.

    Have a good day ladies.
  • Well as predicted I had a carp night's sleep :(

I was shattered when I got in from work after all the stress yesterday so went to bed at 7.30pm :( and slept until about 10pm. Then OH came to bed and I woke up, and I was awake until 3am  I fell asleep at about 3am, and woke up 10 minutes later needing the loo  Back to bed and thankfully I fell asleep again, but woke up at 6.30am. I am so glad I am off work today :o

    Good morning,

I'm up after waking up every hour again, 8 days to go, bump is going mad moving over the past few days, so much so the top of my bump actually feels bruised!!

    Welcome to all the newbies.

Kira hun I'm so so sorry about your car. Big hugs that is all you need right now, some good advice on here, I'm sure you'll manage to sort it xx

Well been trying everything to get this baby to move, due to being so so uncomfortable, I haven't had the itchy boobs but itchy bump OMG!! I could scratch it off it itches soooo much. I don't see the midwife for over another week when she'll give me a sweep, I am definitely going over my date, I can just feel it, which is not good as I am massive!! The things I have tried to help baby along include: Pineapple (although not the 8 a day you need!), Evening primrose oil, hot bath, gin and tonic (weird one I read about), sex, bouncing on my ball, long walks, going to see a comedian (trying to laugh the baby out), curry, RLT, foot massage, erm..... can't remember what else but basically nothing works!!

Don't know what to do with myself for the next 8 days, am just huge and uncomfortable.....

Went to toys r us yesterday whilst the car was in for an mot to see what toys they had and although we said we werent going to buy any for the baby, as at most he will be 6 weeks old, we have found some really good toys we love! We're not going to spend a fortune though, OH's family are clubbing together to buy a jumperoo thing for when baby is a bit older, which is nice as I really want one. Also got some lovely christmas decorations in TK max. Talking of christmas, what are all the ones with babies due beforehand doing on the actual day, me and OH are really struggling with what to do, as we want to spend christmas together but also have dinner with our families, but I want to go to mine and OH wants to go to his. We cant really have dinner here as we live too far from everyone to do it.... hmmmm... more thought needed me thinks.

Well another grey day, am sitting down in the living room with the new snuggle blanket whilst OH snores his head off upstairs! Wish he'd wake up and make me a cup of tea.

sorry for the mammoth post, just thought I'd catch up whilst I can :)

    Hugs
