    Well, I'M BACK!!

Congrats to Mancbird and Redwood Brook, and I assume Kandboys too!

Had my first practise with a real live baby this week, managed a feed and a few nappy changes and lots and lots of screaming. Should say I'm relieved but I'm more nervous now than ever, babies are hard work

Came back with lots of goodies that family have bought me, actually had so much I had to package it up and send it in a big box to get delivered Monday :o OH also managed to go to the Boots event and get the Medela Swing, ended up with £30 worth of points because of the parenting club points too, so got it for £70 really, which I'm over the moon about, not planning on opening it, until I know I can breast feed, that way it can easily be re-sold :)

had a 7 o clock flight this morning, and was up from 3.45 with horrendous indigestion, so I'm quite a grump today, can't wait for OH to finish work, actually really missed him this week!

Hope everyone and babies are all well :) xx

If you wash materials at temps above 60C it will destroy bacteria. It MUST be at 60C or above though. Lower temps with cleaning agents will not get rid of everything.

Hard surfaces wiped down with dettol or similar will do the same.

I just boil washed a load of cot bedding i got 2nd hand. Label said gentle 40C wash, but it survived a 60C wash.

I have 7 and a bit weeks to go and have only a pram, a swinging crib and a box of 2nd hand clothes. I think the only other things i have to buy are nappies etc and a car seat. Sure there is lots of stuff that would be nice but i refuse to spend £1000's on stuff that will be outgrown or become redundant when baby grows up.

Thanks Sammy, I've washed 2x at 40c and put a bit of disinfectant in the drawer! Will try 60, what about the woody woven stuff that makes up the basket? Any ideas?

Doing this baby on the cheap, only kept a handful of bits from DS1, but luckily the cotbed was one of them (because the most expensive!!)

I will buy any extras that will make life easier, like changing table maybe.

You do learn with no2, after you see how much you wasted/how little you used with no1!

Men! Told this to my OH, who replied "I can think of a way to get you on all fours"

When we had baby class the ladies had to lean over the birthing ball on all fours and the men were supposed to stand to the side and rub our lower backs - several decided to stand behind and make certain movements which resulted in a lot of giggling and laughter. (my OH was one of the culprits!)

Get a cloth and some water with some dettol or similar (remember to wear your marigolds!) and just wipe around it. Any bits that you cant poke the cloth into then just sort of hold the wet cloth against it and squish it so the solution goes in a bit.

Just quick wipe down with some clean water afterwards to make sure you dont leave any residue behind and it should be good as new. :-)

I wouldnt worry too much about all the nooks and crannies, some bacteria is good for building up an immune system. You'll have got rid of most the nasty surface dirt.

Nice to see you back Gilly!

I'm on the couch, DH and I are just back after buying a wicker basket so I can make a newborn kit for my boss. I'm very very tired, quite sore, and we still have to pick up DSD for a mini Halloween party at my MIL's tonight. Think I'll try and exhaust myself to see if I can sleep any better tonight?

Aw thanks Lirin took me ages to read back :o

When I was home I slept amazing, didn't even wake up at night for the toilet, the first few nights, that's unheard of now!

Will try that thanks! Been hoovering it loads & thought about using a hairdryer on it to blow dust out as well as sucking (the OH's would love this!) Not that I can see anything on it, but you just think it's there!

While everyone's being a bit saucy, what lengths have ladies been going to to get those babies out? With no1 I ate LOADS of pineapple, curry, and LOTS of hanky panky! Like 3times+ a day! :rotfl:OH was very happy as I hadn't been active during pregnancy. Convinced it's all a load of ..... made up by a man, as the other method suggested to me was to 'eat sausage' & swallow!! I wasn't that desperate to go into labour, and it was actually a MASSIVE meal out that led to my waters breaking outside the restaurant, 9days overdue.

This time I want to keep baby in longer, to get me just past new year, any ideas?
