  • Thanks for the warm welcome. I am also struggling sleeping and my work colleagues are getting used to me yawning all day and looking stylish with the bags under my eyes!
Am off shopping later with dh so that I can have someone to lean on while I waddle around in an amusing manner, so glad its the weekend.

welcome chuck, lovely to meet you.

Ooooh eyeliner I am so jealous of your symptoms, I so think you're going to go early and I'm going to go over! Just had my raspberry leaf tea, I have to say it does make me feel quite odd sometimes, not giving me braxton hicks or anything just makes me feel a bit not with it and a tiny bit sick!!! Doesn't happen all the time though, think it because I didn't have any yesterday.

I feel knackered and I haven't done anything, think I might take myself out for a walk around the block later in the hope of shifting baby down into position, looking forward to OH being home so that he can come with me. Spoke to him last night and he pretty much said the quickest he could get home now is tuesday night, so baby best stay put until then, really can't see him coming early, think he's quite happy where he is, although this morning I seem to have lots of kicks right up in my ribs!! Ouch baby!!

Been looking at things we still need to get and have realised we dont have a decent changing bag!!

We got one with a joblot of stuff from ebay and i thought it was fine but have just looked at it, and it is massive and doesnt have a changing mat attached which we need so have emailed OH with some ideas for some others.

Got some vaseline and some slim line maternity pads with my tesco order as I had forgotten to order them before.

Also still need some lilypadz but I think thats it, it best be it as I'm running out of time to think of stuff really.

Well, what S%$t night that was.

Went to bed early only to be woken up by kids playing in my extension (i live on a building site). Scared those off and then went back to bed. Woken up at 11 by more noise outside, stuck my head through the bedroom curtains and came face to face with another kid stood on the scaffolding outside the window. I think he was more scared than me and ran off to me screaming at him to get lost before i rang the police (only in fewer, nastier words).

Was a bit shaken after that and had noone to call because hubby is still away working in Africa and in-laws away for the weekend.

Ended up leaving downstairs lights on and going back to bed with the dog (who is usually banned from entering the bedroom). Had to have the radio on all night because the slightest noise outside was waking me up.

Builder is coming round today to take the ladders off the scaffolding and hopefully this rain will keep the kids indoors tonight.

    Oh god sammy poor you!!!!

I would definitely leave all the lights on and sleep with the dog, I get scared at night sometimes, and set the alarm so that I feel safer, sleep with the tv on and atleast 2 lights on too, its hard when OH's work away isn't it, especially for you with the added stress of the building site!! Hugs hun x
  • I'll join in with the bloke moaning!! My OH is being a complete ....., he does not understand how tired I am, how needy I am, or how stressed I am. He flat out refuses to get involved with baby planning, setting up nursery, going shopping, ANYTHING!!! I'm gettin SERIOUSLY pee'd off, resulting in strops & temper tantrums like I'm a teenager, but I can't control it. 8 weeks tomorrow & there is no nursery, just a junk room full of boxes, & some carrier bags of baby stuff. No curtains on windows, mould on ceiling, holes in walls. No wardrobe/drawers for baby's stuff. No baby monitor, changing bag, pram, NO TUMBLE DRYER (which I think is essential as our house is freezing, & we have a messy 6yr old!)
I'm trying my hardest to do stuff myself, I've bought all the clothes, and baby stuff we have got. I bought a moses basket randomly from a furniture shop for £2!!! Nice Mothercare one, it looks OK, but I'm convinced it's diseased & riddled with bugs (!) so washed materials 3x & keep hoovering basket & misting with Dettol (any other suggestions to decontaminate?)
Why can't he see that to be a happy mum-to-be I need some help & have this stuff done weeks before baby comes? Not still running around in last week? I'm also likely to get an early C-section, so that gives us 6weeks!
He's had enough time just to give me 2-3 evenings of help, I've been pregnant since Jan as mc & got pg straight away after. I DO NOT NEED THE STRESS!! I don't have any family or friends to help due to relocation.
    Ohhhh, love a good rant!!!

Oooh mmoneysavingmamma, poor you that sounds rubbish, your OH sounds like he needs a good shake!! What is wrong with all these men!! I just don't understand. I hope he sees sense soon hun.

Well I just went for my 20 minute walk around the block, its funny as i start out walking briskly then by the time i get close to home i am walking somewhat slowly lol, after walking for ten minutes I get a real pressure feeling in my pelvis like baby is pushing down, but as soon as im home and i sit down it stops, getting some seriously bad pains in my ribs, if I twist to get up off the sofa, the pain takes my breath away, really random! I'm looking forward to going to see the midwife on wednesday, one because OH can come with me and I know he likes feeling involved, and two beacause I want to see if baby has engaged at all, any tips on how to make him get his head in gear as such?

If you wash materials at temps above 60C it will destroy bacteria. It MUST be at 60C or above though. Lower temps with cleaning agents will not get rid of everything.

Hard surfaces wiped down with dettol or similar will do the same.

I just boil washed a load of cot bedding i got 2nd hand. Label said gentle 40C wash, but it survived a 60C wash.

I have 7 and a bit weeks to go and have only a pram, a swinging crib and a box of 2nd hand clothes. I think the only other things i have to buy are nappies etc and a car seat. Sure there is lots of stuff that would be nice but i refuse to spend £1000's on stuff that will be outgrown or become redundant when baby grows up.

Just try sitting on your ball in the evenings instead of the sofa, as it opens and holds your pelvis in the ideal postition for baby to move down. If you can make rotating movements with your hips whilst on the ball, so the ball moves in small circles too, that is supposed to help encourage downwards movement.

Thats why i got all my stuff apart from the carseat, high chair, mattresses and changing mat are from ebay, I knew what I wanted but was not going to pay out the ridiculous mamas and pappas prices, so got everything for about 1/4 of the price and the nursery looks amazing, we have everything in the zeddy and parsnip range and you would definitely never know that it was second hand, everything has been nicely washed and ironed and anything we didnt like the look of we chucked.

Seriously having really bad stomach pains, dont dare move, its all in my ribs though so not contractions, but my god they hurt, its not kicks i do wonder if baby is stuck. If labour is anything like this im having an epidural!!!!!! God!!!! Dont know what to do with myself.

thanks kira thats what ive been doing for an hour a day
