I didnt want to buy a second hand breast pump but there is no way i am paying £250! I dont like the idea of using something on my boobs that have been on someone elses boobs. maybe i am odd? then i found on amazon you can buy 2 of the bits that go onto your skin for £16 so going to buy them new and clean and sterilise the rest.
I have not posted much this week. I had some bad news earlier in the week and feel a bit withdraw. i am reading away just dont feel very chatty ;-(
Not odd at all. DH and i didnt fancy using a 2nd hand one either. Have you considered the Medela Swing? It gets the top best buy breast pump from Which, and great reviews, and for £85 totally new at NCT currently is a good deal and under your £100.
If you can get the Double freestyle and spares, then sounds good though!
Sorry you had some bad news. Big hug, and hope you feel a bit better soon.. K xMarried 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

My OH is going to Boots, to get our Medela Swing next week, when they're doing the £12 worth of points for every £50 spent, so should get £24 on my card for buying it
I'm the same as you Jenjade I don't think I could use a second hand breast pump.
I feel so crappy today, just really faint and woozy, had some chocolate thinking that would help and it seemed to make me worse. Think I will tell OH to get his own tea from chippy or something and go have a lay downThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
thanks Kira and glad you have had good new about your mum ! She sounds like a fighter!
Can anyone get that from NCT or do you have to become a member etc. i like the swing too:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

oooh jenjade sorry you've had some bad news my lovely, i hope things look up for you soon, hugs x
i really want a breast pump and really liked the avent one, but i just dont know, my close friend has given me a manual one, i was thinking of trying that to start, although dont want to miss the deal on the madela???
well have decided to have a bath to perk myself up with the radio on loud with going out music on, thought i might as well pretend im going for a good girlie night out instead, always enjoy getting ready for them.0 -
Mmmmmmm thanks so much for the recipes girls. I've made a word document with them all in. Made spag bol last night and did an extra batch so have that in the freezer. I'm lucky in that DH will cook so at least he'll do that after baby comes. My mum normally makes us a lasagne or two. But how lovely will soup and crusty bread be on a cold winter evening nom, nom, nom!
Did you pack your spag bol out? I made spag bol today. I had 500g mince, 2 carrots, 4 celerey sticks, 1.5 onion, 1 tin of chopped tomatoes and a jar of spag bol sauce. Me and DD had it for dinner today - tomorrow we are having the soup AND spag bol again with OH - I will be adding courgette, mushrooms and peppers to the spag bol tomorrow - a great way to get kids to eat more veg!Has anybody got dogs on here and had babies before? I'm not concerned at all and I'm sensible, but getting quite fed up of people asking me what I'm doing with my dogs when the baby comes! I'm not doing anything with them, they are part of the family as well!
I have a jack russel cross. He stays outside all day and comes in at night (he prefers it! honest!) I do bring him in when its cold. Although he isnt "trained" as such - he will pull on lead and leg it if he can! (he does eventually come back!) he has ALWAYS been amazing with kids (Obviously ive never left him alone with a kid though!) We got him when DD was 2 and she used to cuddle him, pull his ears and tail and he's never once growled at her, he just walks off when he has had enough. One of our friends brought their child round and the kid actually SAT on my dog  I expected Benji to snap but he didnt, he did yelp though! My friend has a rottie who is so soft - When I was pregnant with DD the rottie used to come and sit with me and make sure i was "ok" lol DD is terrified of him now (he's HUGE! looks like a bear) but she does now know he's ok. I have learnt Dd that you dont go near a dog unless you know it - you would be amazed at how many parents let there kids run up to benji to fuss him without even asking if he is ok with kids!
I dont fuss our dog (much!) He's there for protection, NOT as a pet. Our family is mostly made up of farmers, game keepers etc so we see dog's as working dogs IYKWIM.
This is Benji:
The only time ive ever known Benji to snap is when my dad's dog growled when DD was near by - which is EXACTLY what I want him to do. I will allow Benji to be around the baby too - He's there to protect the kids, he wont protect them if he isnt allowed near them.
EDIT: actually I know another time he has been nasty - Next doors dog jumped up at our fence (its a rottie x alsation) and was barking and growling at my mum. Benji jumped the fence, ran over to the other fence, jumped up and bit next doors dog - My dad has since put a fence up but if next doors dog is out Benji will bark at him if he senses him too close to the fence.0 -
Jenjade Another thought, if you're after a double pump, the Lansinoh Affinity Double, is supposed to be great and it's around £99 brand newThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Thanks Jen. I think she is in fight mode now the worst of the waiting is over, but for a while she had the stuffing knocked out of her, unsurprisingly.
No, anyone can get the Swing from the NCT shop. Here is the link:

Not sure how long the sale deal will be on. Delivery took 9 days.
Missy- i've read that going manual is REALLY hard work, so decided to go for the swing. I looked at the avent, but the reviews on the swing beat it hands down, so that sold it for me. I may also get a cheap medela manual to use in the bath in the early days to get things going, but couldnt deal with it on a permanent basis!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Right enough- there's a picture of me with the mafogglies a few pages back.... Janniew, mine are huge big mutts, both completely lovable, but nutty as anything.... I am not worried in the slightest by them being in the room with baby, but they will never be alone. Lab at least- she'd try licking baby, and could cause harm....
Sorry Gilly and Jen that you're both feeling bad.... Anything I can do, let me know.0 -
I'm not sure if I spent too long in the shower and that's why I feel crap, was using a hair treatment I had to leave on for a while, and rather than get out I was stupid and stood under the boiling hot water for that time. The frontier is never somewhere else.
