i dont know the answer cloudberry but i am guessing (from what i have seen on one born every minute etc) that you only need a top so they can monitor your lower half. could get a long top if you want a little privacy

I completely agree with jenjade, having only seen on OBEM, none of them seem to have bottoms on, just either a bikini top or a vest top, If I manage a natural birth I'd like a water birth, I have packed a bikini top, I think something smallish would be better as a t-shirt would just stick and get on your nerves.

I'm still horrified Kandboys. I have to say I know im going to struggle with people prodding about with 'my bits' just generally, am rather a private person....:o but I know im really not going to have a choice in the matter lol, apparantly your dignity goes out of the window..... really not looking forward to that:o:(

I thought i would share a little story with you about dignity

When i was near the end of my pregnancy with DD1 I had to have a check up at A&E - by a very lush doctor - who had to do an internal (hand up there! my god ive never been so embarrassed in my life - or so i thought)

que 2 months after DD was born - My first night out with the girls

So there we was (imagine if you will) In a pub (with a dance floor) drink in hand, dancing away, when i get this tap on my shoulder - spin round HELLO LUSHY DOCTOR - With an after thought of . . OH CRAP HE'S SEEN MY BITS  . . . OHHHHHH CRAP HE'S HAD HIS HAND THERE . . . OOOOHHH MY GOD!!!!!!!:eek::eek:

After a quick catch up (yes im fine, yes the babys fine, first night out in town etc - hows work dr lush? :o) I made a sharp exit with my friends - who all Pi**ed themselves when i said how i knew him and spent the WHOLE night taking the mick :o:o

See this is the thing isn't it. The fine line between being tidy and looking like a !!!!!! star (fine if you wanna look like one but I personally don't when I'm giving birth).

I thought I'd be really clever and trim and wax myself. Trimming is fine, cheap electric shaver with combs (can't go wrong with them). Then wax. Got a mirror and everything, how difficult can it be. Answer very. Flipping heck I bled and bruised and got wax stuck and at the end of all that my bikini line was just as untidy. All pain and no gain. Mind you OH was crying like a baby trying to remove a nicotine patch. Seriously I'm gonna push a baby out so get on with it love :)

oi less off the !!!!!! star comments lol

Must admit - id never ever wax there!

lol i pooed in labour with dd2 and with dd3 i weed everywere all over the car

as for dignaty, leave it at the door because you wont be needing that again, internals arnet too bad but by the time your at pushing stage i can assure you, your spiders legs will not bother you one bit all you will care about is taking the pain away and pushing.

my labour with dd3 was 29 mins so i am hoping for another quick one like that, but this time it would be quite good if they actually put the stitches in that i need. i also want to go home 6 hrs later, but because i am usually -36 weeks it wont happen.

i dont know whats happened but my bump has dissapeared, i had a huge bump last night, got up this morning and i actually look on ly mildly pregnant strange.

baby monitors, i want the angel care one but we are usually issued one from the hospital so i wont be bothering to buy one, because i havent had a baby yet that isnt on 02 for a few weeks they have recomended i use the hospital ones rather than the ones you buy.

omg, omg, omg mimi  embarrassment central?! oh god i hope i get female doctors/midwives. Whenever i have to go for a smear test or anything, i get so nervous i tense up so much.... talking of embarrassing..... i once shot the opener thing across the room . so slightly worried about any internals

omg love crafting, i have decided that this baby ia going to stay in my tummy forever, its quite happy there and isnt going to come out. so there will be no pooing, weeing, bic razors or internals, ok, good.
  • I did have the strangest feeling when I got up for the loo in the middle of the night, walking past the nursery with all the stuff piled in there I vaguely looked in and the following occurred to me - 'Uh wheres the baby? ' Split second later remembered its in me :) Silly midnight toilet trips!

Lol at you guys freaking out about pooing etc. Honestly YOU WILL NOT CARE!!! A whole brass band could come through your hospital room while you have all your bits on show and you will still not care. Promise. Listen to your Auntie Karen!! LOL!
Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!
