yummymummy79 wrote: »Got a quote for 3 new radiators and fitting, £520! Is it me or does that seem really expensive?! No way i can afford that so trying to shop around a bit, otherwise might just have 1 instead, ex-FIL is doing the fitting so getting a cheap price on that aspect of it. Also need to find someone to fit the bedroom carpets that i bought 4 years ago on a whim when ex moved out, hope they're still OK!
I've two to replace in our house- we priced to do ourselves, and buying parts- radiators and compressy valves- works to £60-£80ish per radiator. Trade- possibly around the £50 mark for everything, haven't tried my trade card yet. Then they need filled, bled and balanced, and tested. £520 seems a bit excessive, is any other work happening at the same time? What are the labour/time costs- ask for a breakdown. We had our radiators flushed and serviced, and boiler serviced, which was £80 in total.
I'd avoid a bigger company and try getting a quote off a smaller family-run outfit maybe. Haggle like hell as well, I got a free chimney check thrown in with our boiler service! :rotfl:
I'm not too bad today. Nice boss is a bit grumpy today, and asked why I have had so many appointments with midwife/consult/haematologist/physio. Didn't think I had? I'm shared care, so I see mw every 2 months, and consultant every other 2 months. I've seen haematologist twice, and physio is coming up. He said his wife has been seen five times in total, and she's 3 weeks ahead of me. I've had 13 appointments in total, including the three coming up!
Must be the difference in care/area, as my sisters seemed to think I had very few appointments.
It's a tad unfortunate I've handed the one in for the physio on a day I could dance! Wait a couple of hours though til I start to stiffen up.
Good luck, Mancbird!0 -
good luck today mancbird.
well im about to phone the school and tell them the kids wont be comming back, im a little bit nervous about it because i will have to resign from being a govenor aswel. but i know its the best thing for them, they have only been in school six months because they asked to try school so i let them, i guess im a bit sad that it didnt work but i am happy that i wil be getting my kids back. there personalities seem to have dissapeared since they went back to school and im hoping to get that back.0 -
