I havent even got a monitor :eek: I havent even thought about it! Its the first time i`ve had a baby in a house, always been in flats before so within ear shot, am now thinking maybe i should get one incase i`m out in the garden in the summer at nap time?? hmm, Dh will be please when i tell him we need to spend more money hahah!!!
I havent a clue what to look for in am onitor tho?! do cheap ones work just as well? Cant see me actually ever remembering to turn it on! xx

Why is it, when I'm supposed to be sleepy, i.e now bedtime I'm wide awake but I've yawned my way through the entire day and been unable to keep my eyes open?

It kind of depends on what you are looking for and the type of house you live in. We have the BT 150 monitor which has been the top Which best buy for AGES, but is now discontinued alot of places and available at inflated prices in others (£80-90, when the RRP was only about £55!) If you can get one reasonably on ebay, then worth going for. Otherwise the new version which is also rated highly by which is the BT 250, which comes in around the £50 mark.
We liked ours as it has a temperature alarm you can set (our house gets v hot!), and plays lullabies, or your own music via an MP3 player if you connect one. It has very good clarity and distance of reception, night light, and has a light display to show noise.
I'm not a big panicker (i dont think!), so i havent gone for a monitor with under mattress sensor pad, but they are quite popular with people. I just reckon i would forget to turn the alarm off when i scoop Bean out!

Sorry I have been AWOL for quite some time as my laptop died so I haven't been able to get on!

I just wanted to pop in and let you all know that baby Isla was born at 10.36pm on the 3rd of January, will pop back soon and give more details, but we are besotted with her, she's gorgeous, even if I do say so myself!
