Night Night Love Crafting. Hope it all goes well for you tomorrow.
You too Lisa if you're looking xx
Thanks Gilly, feeling a bit nervous now but also managing to stay positive. Just wish my appointment was a bit earlier but atleast its a similar time to last time we went there so we have an idea that hopefully the traffic will be ok and we'll be able to get parked without too much hassle!0 -
Just re-packed my hospital bag. Got a morrisons voucher that needed using and they have some Beverly Hills Polo Club wheeled holdalls for a tenner, so got one of those instead. Quite nice too, mines black with white flowers on.
Packed my dressing gown in there too as there was extra room
Now for a cuppa then bed, as back to doing school run tomorrow morning then got 37 week consultant appointment and growth scan tomorrow afternoon.
Nipped out earlier, got DD a big sister card and flashing 'im a big sister' badge, which she'll love, some sweeties and a new book to go in her overnight bag, and I've got her a little pressie from Bump that she can have at the hospital
Think we have everything ready now. Just need little man here xx0 -
Hi everyone
Hope everyone's okay. Haven't had chance to catch up yet but congrats to all the new mummys. My little Henry was born 7lb 12oz which my DH didn't remember to say.
We're both doing good but I am struggling a bit with BF. Is anyone BF and expressing?? If yes can you give me any advice how start off as the midwive's don't really encourage it?? Just finding the demand quite hard at the mo and have been quite tearful.

Hi Hon. Still here at +4 waiting for mine!
7lb 12oz- a nice healthy weight for your little Henry! Congrats!
I've been reading up in advance and would really really recommend this book as it tells you all about things that might happen and what you can do- inc on BF and expressing (as well as crying, sleeping and nappies!), but it isnt judgemental or dictatorial, and you can dip in little chunks so easier for a new mum.

It does talk about early problems bf, which are very common, but in answer to your question talks about mixed feeding (bf and expressed bottle or formula bottle), says usually after week 2 and before week 5 is the best time to start, as LO will have grasped latching on by then, and will switch between the two better. Mornings are best for expressing, after a feed- as you have more milk in the morning when you are less tired, i think it said wait 10 mins after a feed and then try expressing. Try and get LO to drain one boob totally, to make sure he gets the fore milk and hind milk, which means he will get the refreshing stuff and the filling up stuff, and then offer the other one in case. THEN if expressing, start with the "unused one" or the last one he tried from if he had a bit. It said you might not get much to start with, but production will increase if you keep it up. Giving an expressed bottle even with a small amount in it, every three days, will keep him in the habit.
Other things it said were that being tearful and finding it hard are very very normal, so its not a sign you are doing anything wrong, or wont be able to manage it, and your milk production may be a little out of sync with LO's needs to start with, so its best just to go with the flow, and feed on demand for the first few weeks, as that should get your milk up and running.
Anyway, thats my take on what the book said- it was really helpful, def worth a look..
Good luck hon!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Well, am still here after a bit of a restless night. The storm winds kept me awake off and on, but was feeling most odd. Might be the start of things- might not of course. Headache, feeling sick, my bump kept having waves of tightness (what i imagine BH to be but never had any before!), and some much stronger tummy pains and back ache. Still feel wierd this morning, and kind of energised mentally, with the odd spasm, but nothing major.
Now got to decide if i still go to the M/w this afternoon at 3.30, or cancel? What do you think?Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Still go Kira, as she may be able to feel even slight contractions across ur bump
The waves u describe sound like BH, but could of course be mild real ones! Its funny how u say u feel "weird" thats all i kept saying the day i went into labour with Lily. I was 3 days late, and every time someone called/text, all i could say was, " i just dont feel right, i feel weird" lol. Also IF she offers a sweep, it might get the ball rolling
Stupid stormy winds and rain last night were driving me mad! Need to go to the shop this morn to get veg for tonights roast pork, and then taking the girls to the ball pit with friends. Sooo tired tho! Oooh, also gonna get me some more washing powder while its on offer ;0) xxMummy to 3 beautiful GIRLS, 9, 7 and 3,and a handsome lil BOY 03.03.12 :T
