BB is the most prudent with Data without a doubt, but thats more to do with the lack of apps - Android isn't too bad as the no data while roaming controls apps too, but there is a real issue with the iphone and background data usage, its that which is causing these massive bills to keep appearing...0

I have used data on holiday, but made sure i turned roaming off after i used it. As alot of people forget that e-mail, facebook etc, is syncing every few hours and eating data.
I think i only spent about a tenner.0 -
People will never learn.0

I still say the networks should by default allow you to set your own credit limit with texts at 25/50/75/90% to allow the user to control costs outside thier priceplan....payg is deducted by the millisecond even when roaming, its is avail for contracts but the networks withhold it as like the OP the networks make a bomb on roaming, its wrong and under regulated.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe

When you turn on data roaming on the iPhone, there is a warning stating "Turn data roaming off when abroad to avoid subsantial roaming charges when using email, MMS, web browsing and other data services." What could be clearer than "substantial"? Even if Orange doesn't send texts to warn of the costs, the iPhone itself makes it very obvious.0

What about substantial charges when not "using email, MMS, web browsing and other data services"?0

No, I mean just background data exchange plus various updates.
I think it would be correct to use the term 'phantom' for the data usage abroad with the roaming turned off: Complaints over erroneous iPhone data roaming charges0 -

You may get them but it's not mandated under EU law so they don't have to..0
