153MB at £8 per MB is £1224. Bill was £1320 so it's quite possibly right. OP wasn't disputing the amount of data used, just annoyed at the costs.
5 mins of research before travel could have saved the OP a huge bill on return. Been smoke free for 4 years!! :beer:0 -

wow £8 per mb?
I'd check you'd actually used that amount as I'm pretty sure I never go over my 1GB a month when in UK and I've got FB, Twitter, Whatsapp, emails, ebay etc all updating all the time on my BB. Basically I hammer my BB i'net and cant use that much in a month.
as for wanting sympathy...sorry but you made a mistake and asked for advice. you've been given advice. Just because it may not be what you want to hear doesnt mean anyone here has not wanted to help you.
Blackberry data is compressed by the Blackberry servers so Blackberry's tend to use much less data (as the OP indicated). Just about every other type of smartphone doesn't have any sort of data compression service so they will chew through much more data.0 -
it would have beencheaper for you to fly home , check the stuff out on your own computer and then fly back - that how obscene the prices are0

A lot of people don't really understand usage -I come across it a lot at work. I'm paranoid about roaming charges myself so I do sympathise.
Was part of the problem that the I-phone was "pushing" mail so effectively checking for mail all the time rather than just when you checked for mail ? (It sounded like this might have been your first foreign trip with the I-phone rather than another phone?)I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

You should've stayed with your Blackberry. the other alternative is to take a cheap phone abroad with you. Do people really have to check Facebook when on holiday?? Am I the only one who doesn't have a Facebook account?0

Wow, i bet that was a shock OP!
I've got a Blackberry and going away in a fortnight for a few days abroad. I shall be leaving my phone here and taking an old one after reading all these horror stories! No way do I want to be coming home to a huge bill.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
