Many people make stupid mistakes. This doesn't mean that they don't deserve any sympathy.
  • I have some sympathy. I guess many people go on holiday thinking it can't cost _that_ much. Then come back to a £500 / £1000 / £2000 bill for what is a relatively small amount of data.

I also have sympathy, but the onus is on you to ask, not them to tell, if you call them you should get some sort of goodwill gesture

I wish I had never asked for advice on here as not one person has offered any sympathy. Everyone makes mistakes.

You dont need to reply any further.

Sorry but the post below indicates why sympathy is in short supply on this topic. That plus its been all over the press for the last few years especially with the EU mandating that mobile providers text customers exceeding £40 data roaming charges within the EU within 1 month. :wall:

Huge mobile phone bills due to data roaming

Thread "iPhone roaming charges - please help." quoted there was a story of success, but it is not always like this.

I must admit, I did chuckle at the bit when you called them and tried to get out of your contract because you'd spent a bunch of money. I'd have loved to have listened in on that call.
  • I have just paid it and put it on my credit card.

It just saddens me that I have been with Orange for over 10 years and they couldnt help in anyway, I used to be a premium member when I lived in London but had to reduce it when I moved to Devon and couldnt get a proper signal in my flat. I should of moved provider then but they promised the signal would get better when they merged with T-Mobile.

Anyway, Lesson learnt on my part.

    Thanks everyone.

    wow £8 per mb?
I'd check you'd actually used that amount as I'm pretty sure I never go over my 1GB a month when in UK and I've got FB, Twitter, Whatsapp, emails, ebay etc all updating all the time on my BB. Basically I hammer my BB i'net and cant use that much in a month.

as for wanting sympathy...sorry but you made a mistake and asked for advice. you've been given advice. Just because it may not be what you want to hear doesnt mean anyone here has not wanted to help you.

£8 per megabyte is the rate as quoted for Croatia on the Orange website.

Not a lot more to say really except that if you had gone to Slovenia instead you would have been covered by the EU regulations on data usage limits!

I'd still check the bill as it seems a high amount of data for a mobile

One of the perils of so called smart phones. It often makes you dumb.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.
