    Hi Choo,

I try make the most of my spending money ie I will get cheaper items so that I can get everything I need. However this has back fired on me as with my birthday money I bought a bag from Primarni and some boots from New Look. Both of these items fell apart and are now in the bin about 3 months later . Im learning that I need to spend a bit more for quality!!

You defo need to treat yourself, especially when youve got the budget in place xx

I wish I could find clothes I liked. I don't spend any money on clothes for that reason, but I am like you if I find something lovely I always think it's too much.

    Good morning

Eliza, I never use to think twice about spending £x on clothes but I do now x

Mummy, thats so annoying about your boots and bag, sometimes it does pay to pay abit extra I suppose its just a balancing act x

DFW, I did treat myself to a few new tops yesterday xx

I did spend some money on myself yesterday, 3 new tops from Matal*n and spent £19. They are nice quality and will be nice to wear with my jeans. I've decided that tops for everyday can be cheaper but if I want something for going out/work I'll pay abit more or wait until I see something in the sales.

Well the sun is out so I'm going to peg the towels out soon when they've finished in the machine.

I don't know what to do with myself today, so much to do but I don't know where to start really. I could do with having a good sort through my clothes and see what I need for summer. I need to sort through DD and DS clothes as well but I just can't face DS bedroom at the moment. It is a tip and I hate going in there, he's a hoarder and theres stuff all over the floor. I get so demotivated when I venture in there, I need to wait until he's at school and then I'll give it a good blitz, I just need to muster up the energy.

Time for some breakfast if I can just tear myself away from Horrible Histories, I learn something new everytime its on - love it xxx

My son's room is exactly the same- and he is rarely here  !!

As for horrible histories, i bought 2 theatre tickets for myself or dh to take ds1 to in August! £11 each (inc. booking fee) and cashback :money: seemed like a good deal to me and a cheap treat! perhaps you could bribe ds to do his own room and buy him some tickets :rotfl: xx

  • Hi choo my sons room is exactly the same, he keeps broken action figures, random bits of paper, i keep shutting the door on it at the minute, but i have in the last week started to remove the odd thing, thats broken, paper etc and chucking and he is not noticing the the 1 legged headless power ranger has gone or the dozen a4 sheets of hangman scribbles have gone inthe recycling.

    Good morning

DFW - I keep meaning to look for HH tickets as we all love the programme and it would be a lovely treat.

Pennywise - I try and sneak the odd bit of tat into the bin as well. It needs a skip under the bedroom window though just to make the process alot easier.

Not much to report today, I've just counted up all the loose change from various containers and I've got £15 so I'll pay that into the bank this week and then transfer the money into the ISA. Every little helps, I'm hoping that I will just transfer little bits over as and when and the balance will slowly grow.

I am going to set up a DD this week to start over paying the mortgage, I'm starting low at £10 a month on £10000 of our mortgage and by doing so I'll repay it 1 year and 5 months earlier. Then when I see how the finances settle I'll hopefully increase the overpayment, it should hopefully be a snowball effect. Once the £10000 part is repaid I can then move those repayments onto the remaining big balance and reduce that and then when the big balance is repaid I can move onto overpaying the new mortage taken out for the building work. The new mortgage has been taken out over 20 years to keep the repayments low but our old mortgage will be repaid in 12 years time. If I've done the sums right we should have repaid everything in 15 years time if we keep the repayments we have now but I am obviously hoping to reduce this as much as possible. :T

I am not sacrificing everything though as life is for living now and I don't want to compromise on fun and holidays.

Right better go and do something xxx

It's amazing to see the amount you can save by overpaying the mortgage isn't it. We were overpaying a lot this and last year but I have stopped for a couple of reasons. I want some backup and also it's a bit too addictive when life is for living not scrimping all the time.

  • that's great choo, i can't believe the mortgage can be reduced by just paying off such a small sum each month  it really makes you think! But i totally agree life is for living in the NOW and you are debt free and should enjoy your hard earned pennies :) xx

    Good morning

Hi to DFW and Eliza, thanks for popping by xxx

So today I have had a mooch through town on my way into work and spent £4 on a new mascara, but only spent advantage points so I'll add that to my signature.

I did the bank/spreadsheet reconciliation last night and it doesn't look too bad. I need to wait for the finances to settle as they've taken a battering over the last few months and then I'll set the mortgage overpayment up.

I have been really disciplined and only grocery shopped once a week but DH is still popping in for extra visits which is pushing my grocery spend up and over budget

Right better get on with some work xxx
