Hello everyone
I never really get the chance the post on this thread, so I'm making the post of it whilst my OH has taken our son out for a few hours (so I can get on with 'things'!)
Not sure that this is one of the 'things' he had in mind though!
Had a well-earnt lie-in but woke up feeling really rough for it! Got a birthday party later but have been quite OS about preparing for it. I had a tidy up of all the bits and bobs in the spare room over xmas and found that I had some long-forgotten birthday paper in there.
Will be giving one of the Book People bargain kids books as the birthday present. It is well worth anybody with kids stocking up on their mixed selections as they come in really handy for presents and save wasting money at the last minute on not-so-cheap tat!
Edit: Just read back through some of the earlier posts that I had missed. Valentine - really sorry to hear about your news. I know it might not seem the right time, but think about all your happy memories as well and just look forward to that new little life on its way. xxx0 -

Well.................NoI have packed up the laundry so far. Going to tackle the linen cupboard next. No light in the hallway and being dark is a bit of a hindrance. I thought the night would be a bit cooler but not yet. Probably will storm later on.
Thriftlady Coleslaw??

Well i have just prepared a oatabix cherry and chocolate cake ready to cook later to have with custard after tea, have no idea if it will work, iv just changed the weetbix recipe slightly plus used up anything in storcupboard that need using!!!
We will see, it smells nice so thats a good sign!!!
Just had a quick tidy up downstairs, no point doing it well at weekends as kids mess it up so fast!!!
Uniforms in washer and then need to do a white wash, and the baskets are empty, so tommorow i will do as many sets of bedding as possible.
May atempt onion bread later, this is the one bread that iv never got right in the bm yet, so may give it another go, as have lots of bits of different style cheese to use up, and thought onion bread and cheese would make a nice supper time snack.
Have 20 items or so ending on ebay later and im doing ok not far off the car tax target i was hoping to meet.So need to find out my wrapping and packing items.( thats the bit i hate posting them all!!)
Catch you all later

Morning :hello:
((((hugs)))) Valentine x
Well, I nearly wrote this morning off completely after realising last night that the ugg-style boots I bought a few weeks ago would enable me to put on them and my coat over my pyjamas, go to the newsagents for the Times and a pint of milk, then go straight back to bed all morning with a cup of tea and the crossword... but I woke up this morning telling myself I was NOT going to be such a lazy mare
One thing I had to do this morning was get rid of the remains (i.e. vinegar) from a jar of pickled onions I finished off last night. Was just about to pour it down the sink when I had a more OS idea and used it to CLEAN the sink instead - and the bathroom basin, which is glass and was covered in limescale deposits, but has come up lovely
Washed the crock from the SC so I can put on some lemon chicken later, and the washing up bowl is now full of bottles and jars soaking to clean them out/get the labels off before they go to the bottle bank.
Dad is coming over about 3pm, hopefully to help me get my curtains up.
Have a nice day everybody

Morning
DLB Just wanted to say thanks for sharing your story with us yesterday it was really moving and I back everyone else in saying you sound a wonderful mum
Valentine and Roz - big hugs to you both and your familys
Having a slow start - Saturday Kitchen and pjs:T Not much planned today apart from a catch up with my neighbour later on over suppper and maybe a glass of wine.
Last night had a delivery pizza as part of an MS job and it was horrible:mad: - I usually enjoy them but it tasted so plastic. I think I am blaming you lot entirely for this as I realised I have stopped eating a lot of this type of food since owning and actually using the SC and following some of the lovely recipes on here. I do still eat out quite a bit with work and with friends but when I am at home I know I am eating loads better. Problem is I have to use the same company again within 3 days so Im hoping it was a duff one and I can enjoy the next !
Plans for today are to have a quick tidy up of the house and then crack on with some scarf making:j
Hope you all have a lovely day
Hugs to all

Morning all just!
Hugs to Valentine X
Just as I had a late night last night because DH was going to be up early DD has come down with a sickness bug again. I've had enough now, this is 3 times in 6 months. DS has now been relieved of kitchen clean up duty. He's just not doing it properly I think so he can take over some other household job that doesn't hold the health of the family in it's hand.
So today I am stripping down the kitchen, cleaning everything in sight as well as trying to get all uniforms done ready for Monday. DH has gone into town to buy new chopping boards, toothbrushes and anti-bac everything so I can stop this in it's tracks and prevent it from coming back again.
On the plus side I told DH this morning that I needed some help around the house, that I can only do so much and I can't keep the house to the standard we need it to be if he doesn't help me out more instead of playing on the computer at every available moment.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

DH has taken kids to park.
DS is ok - he's been quite good (for him) DD is in a foul mood. Her problem is she hasn't eaten today. I've fed her, offered food, sat at the table for 45 mins for breakfast. But she won't have it. She wants to eat chocolate - I won't give her it. Eventually she'll get hungry and cave in, but until then we have to live with the MOOD. (Suppose it makes me see what DH has to put up with with me now and again:rolleyes:)
Stuck coconut bread in the oven - they can have some of that for lunch with some fruit.
I'm thinking of getting a rice cooker - I'm fed up cleaning the starchy mess off the cooker every time I make rice (and we make it a lot - DD does eat this). Anyone got any tips/warnings? I'm off to have a quick search."You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
Do you have a steamer? Mine came with a rice tray to use in it, iv never used it, but thought it may save you money getting a steamer that comes with rice tray with it, and you can use it for lots of other things too?Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0

hi there, i,m new to this site, but have been getting SO many great ideas, that my poor hubbie who has been serving overseas for the past 4 months, is now starting to think his wife has gone slighlty nuts, judging by the emails he recieves of the wonderful OS savings ive been making!!!
He is home in a months time, i think he may notice a few shocking changes
1. the BM we have had for 3 years has been finally used!
2. my food bill has gone from £120 to £40 a week!!!
3. our 16 yr old son is helping plan and prepare and cook the meals too!!!
4. my own bank account is in credit!!!!!( woohoo), how amazing is it when your son shows you how to do a spread sheet, and how scarey is it when i see how much we were wasting BIG TIME.
5. nearly forgot............i,m actually cooking......sounds silly, but i tended to just heat up ready meals, so its a huge confidence boost for me to find out i can actually cook simple things
I even made a bannana cake in the bread maker (from a recipe on a recent thread), so when we came back from mucking out and riding the horses(brrrrrrrrrr, really cold today), we had a yummy cake and cups of tea, from bannanas that i would normaly throw away.
the posts are all excellent and are making the weeks fly past so quickly, so many thanks everyone!0
