  • Has anyone heard from Valentine?
    Hi everyone,

Thanks so much for all your kind and thoughtful wishes this week - I got to the hospital on time, managed to tell my Granny about the baby but she died about 3 hours after I got there. I am very sad as she deteriorated very quickly (she went into hospital after Christmas with a fractured hipbone but caught all sorts of viruses etc while in hospital) but at the end, it felt like she had decided that she wanted to die, as she pulled her oxygen mask off, refused all drugs (despite not seeming very with it), then stopped breathing - the fact that we felt that she had made this decision was very comforting. We are all very distraught but she was 87 years old, had 4 children, 9 great-granchildren, 1 great-grandchild (and another on the way) and had had a good life.

We found a letter at home to be read in the event of her death and although it was heart-breaking to read, it was of great comfort to us all. The funeral is next Friday.

I am back home now and having a relaxing weekend, I don't really know what to do with myself. Yesterday was spent sorting out the death certificate and registering the death etc and a visit to the funeral parlour but it's difficult to know what to do or feel now. I think I'm going to chill today, ignore the housework and just take some time out for me.

Thanks again for all your love and support, it means so much.

(((Hugs))) to anyone who needs them, sorry I'm behind on all the news.

    Valentine xxx

    Good morning everyone,

Just started reading todays thread, but i think ive missed something from yesterday, so i thought i would post quickly, then go back and read last nights, and then the rest of todays thread while i finish my cuppa!!!
Nothing much planned for this weekend - have managed to sell some bits on ebay last night, so have a couple of parcels to wrap and if i get moving quick enough, we might make it to the post office before it closes!! Also have some housework to catch up on (upstairs) but thats it, so hopefully a relaxing weekend for us.
Right, going to catch up on the thread, hope everyone is well.
    Have a lovely day everyone,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • Morning Guys!

Its a late one as not feeling too good today. Had a lovely evening with nephew last night and was tasted ok too:D

WM has been on with coloured wash including DD's uniform. DW needs emptying and toilet cleaned.

DD is going to a party later, so we have peace for a couple of hrs but not well enough to go out. She is currently finishing her HW and listening to Lion King. She is going with the school on Wednesday to see Lion King, so wanted to listen to the album...so all I can hear is her singing:eek:   ....better than High school Musical I suppose;)

Anyway, I must get on with my essay this weekend and have found a study buddy:D

Our citicard bank account stuff came this morning and are overall pleased with what we have been offered. We now have a joint bank account after 13 years of marriage:o ATM being ill, OH has to get cash out of the machine as our main account is mine and the bank wouldnt allow hubby to be added as he has no credit history. We needed a joint account so that OH could go shopping without having to use the credit card or go to the machine as IM not always well enough to get out. So good news! He just has to activate his card, which he should be doing as we speak:rolleyes:

Anyway, Id better go and start reading.

    Breakie: Nothing
    Lunch: Chicken, salad baguette
Dinner: May have take-away:eek:    , but will probably settle with egg and chips:p

    Hugs to all.
    PP

  • Well, I've tried to skim read last night's posts and have got the gist of what was said. I've nothing but admiration for you dlb :T and my heart goes out to Roz and your sister:grouphug:

OH has manged to wangle himself an invite to Old Trafford today (Man U v Aston Villa) - corporate entertaining thing. I am so jealous, I'm not a supporter of either team (Baggies! baggies! baggies! boing! boing! boing!) but the atmosphere at a big match like that must be fantastic. Anyway that means he's out till late.

I have to take DD to her dance lesson later, then she is being collected by a friend for lunch and a play. Bit nervous about her going to eat at someone else's house as it's the first time she's done this really, and I'm worried the friend's mum will accidently give her nuts or eggs  . I've also got to provide the mum with her epipen and explain how to use it etc, and tbh this mother doesn't seem particularly on top of things - I've already discussed not giving her eggs, then yesterday she said, when I mentioned it again 'you didn't say she was allergic to eggs' . She asked me what Dd liked and I said pizza and pasta were her favourites, then she wanted to know which brands of pizza and which jars of pasta sauce she liked - so I said homemade ones:D I'd be happier if she were just going round to play for a couple of hours.

Not sure what to give boys for lunch, toasted sandwiches maybe - I need to use my pannini toaster more.

Supper is ham, baked spuds and coleslaw. Might make a fruit cobbler for pud.

I'm going to finish making my Seville orange jelly today and try out my eggless choc bun recipe without cocoa and with the addition of sultanas:)

    Hugs valentine

from what you say she was prepared and ready to go. She'll be watching you and your little one.

    take care

My mantra for today "Stay calm". I am ignoring kids when they don't do what they're told. DD is 2 and is starting to get into major strops. DS is 4 and it feels like he just ignores me and continues lowping about the place making inane noises. So - no more shouting, just gonna ignore them when they get this way. Just told them of this. (this is why I'm here - I'm trying to make a point)

((HUGS)) to Valentine, im so glad you managed to make it in time, and you were able to tell her about the baby xx

re last nights thread - it was lovely to read, we have some lovely people on this thread, love and hugs to all of you last night xx

lil'me - you summed up my views on marriage perfectly - it is scary, one of the many reasons i didnt marry ex OH (now if i went into all the reasons that would open up a whole different thread!!!)

joannasmum - dont worry about shouting at DD, ive done the same (i expect most of us mums have at one time or another) and spent hours being upset and feeling guilty, only for the children to be perfectly ok, having forgotton all about it, where ive lived with the guilt for days afterwards!!!

Im sorry if ive missed anyone out, i know its not early, but as i got up so late today (DD came up with a cuppa for me at 9.34!!) im all behind and fuzzy headed still.

Right, need to get dressed, and carry on watching Saturday cooks/Saturday kitchen (flicking between them both!!!)

    Morning everyone

I haven't had chance to really read the threads this week, so in between doing OS stuff today I'm having 'computer breaks' to try and do some catch up reading :D (((Hugs))) to everyone who needs one - sorry I don't know what has been going on this week. I will try and catch up :o

Today we slept in until 8 am and then got up and started doing bits and pieces and have only just sat down now. OH has put bread maker on for rolls, first wash is in the machine, slow cooker is on (pheasant casserole), and a batch of vegetable broth is cooling ready to go into the freezer. With all the chat about poached eggs yesterday we are having poached egg on toast for lunch. This afternoon we are bottling HM wine.

Have a lovely OS day everyone!
Enjoying an MSE OS life :D
