Well I've been experimenting with minestrone soup today as I have some cabbage to use up and some orzo(little rice shaped pasta) that I bought on a whim. Quite pleased with the results-based on Good Food's chunky minestrone. I put a pack of passata in and I would halve that next time bearing in mind the amount of veg I used or use tinned tomatoes as it's a bit tomatoey. It would be good for a soup n pudding tea and I reckon you could even put dumplings in it or some bits of bacon.....mmm feel another experiment coming on! Will let you know.

Glad you got your iron JackieO. I did some ironing this morning and I get on very well with my new iron.

Hugs and kind thoughts for all.

    Have a good afternoon.

    Afternoon all

Got some real bargains in Aldi today 2 joints of pork loin at £3.49 each Which I will cook and slice so I will get 2 meals from each joint, some lovely mince £2.40 that I have bagged up into 3 good portions and it is a bigger pack than the steak mince and looks a lot leaner too, then we got 4 ham joints reduced to £1.75 a joint which we have sliced (My slicer has really paid for itself) and have 8 weeks worth of ham for lunches, we also got a chicken for £2.99 and 4 frozen pork chops were £1.99.
Large field mushrooms were reduced to 79p a pack so we got 4 packs of them and I will dehydrate some for making soup in the winter.
Runner beans 400g are 69p, 1kg carrots 49p, 1kg onions 49p, caulis 49p, savoy cabbage 49p, broccoli 49p, celery 49p ( love it in a casserole) so we have enough food to last a good while. We spent £58 but that was for a lot more things than the meat and veg which is a lot for us but as you can see we did really well.
I think that I might go and get some more of the pork loin tomorrow because it is such a good price.

Got to go DH is screaming that my fry up is ready :D so BFN x

Hi, have only just caught up with yesterday's thread, so this is just a quick post to offer support to Betheebee and her DD; I can't believe how anyone could be so callous/stupid as to do such a thing.:mad::mad: Hoping all concerned recover with no lasting ill-effects. And I hope the police get the culprit and throw the book at them!

Afternoon all, just popping on in my lunch. I'm trying desperately to resist going and buying some of those aero bubbles- they're so yummy!!! I finish in 1hr30 anyway, then going foraging with OH :j
His interview day went really well, he and another guy were named the best of the day and his background made him really stand out. It looks promising! He'd never considered this type of work but loved it, great pay and bonuses too but the hours- 12 hour days

NPM your mixer is gorgeous. I am jealous :)

Betheebee I didn't for a minute think someone had tried to clean the kettle with proper descaler. I was wondering if some eejit had maybe tried to bleach it or something equally stupid..... I hope they find out what it was anyway and that you dd is ok.

I didn't post this morning because I am tired. I just got on with sorting the kitchen instead. I have defrosted my chest freezer, and have inventoried both freezers. I also did the cupboards and threw out some herb jars that had best by dates of 1995 :o The Worcestershire sauce with a best by date of 08/08 is a baby by comparison :rotfl:

    Take care all of you

Hi Cranky, I mentioned the descaler because several said it may have been left in the kettle by mistake.
    Thanks for your kind words.

Sounds like we have the same cupboards, I cleaned mine out a few months ago and found stuff years out of date also :o
