As this was private land there is no "offence" because no laws have been broken. Similarly all road markings on private land have no basis in law and are just graffiti.

So just ignore them and nothing will happen.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?

Yep, it is totally unenforceable, ignore every bit of bog paper you get and give the money to a good cause- your wallet. Keep your hard-earned, these people are nothing but scammers.
  • Since letters will be sent to the registered keeper should they inform them that they were not the driver or just ignore??

The keeper can do either one. Ignoring works and costs zero in terms of time, effort, and money.

Advising that they were not the driver and therefore do not wish to receive any correspondence can, on the other hand, create a situation where the scammer leaves themselves open to being sued.

The keeper can take their choice.

Well done, you are spreading the word like we all do and you can give your own example here of a fake PCN ignored through to the end, which always helps newbies.

    :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi Guys, I found this forum today whilst looking for info on CP Plus online. Really useful information so far but a question please, does this apply to Motorway services.

Yesterday I received a letter with in and out photos saying my car was recorded parked at Roadchef Northampton North 2 weeks ago.

Am I safe in following your advice here or do special rules apply to Motorways please?

    Many thanks for all advice

Rather than bumping old threads, you would be far better to have started your own.

However, there is no difference whatsoever to this scam - private parking is private parking whereever you are in the UK. So there is absolutely no reason to think aything special applies to a motorway services car park over any other. IGNORE! :)

And there are plenty service station threads her if you want to look - and check the forum sticky to see the letters they are going to send you.

See my signature for where to click to see the current forum advice. One click takes you back to the current forum and off this random old thread you found.

Start by reading the second listed thread, 'PPC letter chains' and watching the Watchdog clip.

The advice applies to any private parking charge notice, whether you committed the 'alleged contravention' or not. ALWAYS A SCAM! :)
