MSE News: Ryanair 'sticks two fingers up at passengers' with new card fees

The cashpassport is pure garbage. Using it in an ATM costs £2, using it for UK purchases after March costs 50p, using it abroad costs 5.75%, not using it costs £2.50 per month after 6 months.
You keep posting so-called costs but where`s the link for the info.
The inactivity is easily avoided with UK wide use, you can get currency anywhere not just from them and a 50p charge (if this is correct) would hardly go noticed filling up with petrol once a month.
The advantages of no RA fees far outweigh the minor costs.0 -
My friends and I have been boycotting RyanAir for some time now. In fact why not travel throughout Europe by train. It's almost as cheap if you book well in advance, even using couchettes, and a lot more pleasant.0

'Ryanair’s £6 admin fee will not apply to any bookings made with ‘Ryanair Cash Passport’ and there are NO transaction charges for using the card at UK MERCHANTS until 31st March 2012, so we recommend that UK passengers make the switch to ‘Ryanair Cash Passport’ as soon as possible to take advantage of the no fee offer.
As usual Ryanair's slant on the story is not the whole picture, for obvious reasons.
There are quite a number of prepaid cards on the market, all with various types of fees involved - some charge for loading, others for usage etc., etc.
You need to carefully compare to see what the best deal is to meet your individual needs.
For example, I determined that the Caxton FX card was about the best around for settling Ryanair type booking fees, that was about two years ago and may not now be the case. It only charged a small fee when paying for flights - and no loading charges or cash fees as I recall.
From the users perspective I suspect that the Ryanair Cash Passport will have the worst combination of charges factored in - what Martin calls "Cards From Hell" !!!
I'm about to investigate its conditions of use.0 -
The do gooders won't be happy until that £6 is in the flight price - then we'll all have to pay it!
You`re right there.
It`s the "do-gooders" that have made the UK website such a mess when searching for a flight.
And for anyone who doesn`t know, switch to the Irish site when searching.
The "do-gooders" want the credit card fees added to the flight cost but why should it be, when you can avoid it.0 -
All budget airlines should show the cost including seat reservation, hold baggage, taxes etc. with the option of 'opting out' of hold baggage with a cost reduction. As for card fees, this is one of my pet hates. As an ex-retailer we absorbed these costs and did NOT pass them on to our customers; all Internet bookings should be fee free as we are doing all the work ourselves and not going through a call centre. (This I also feel should be to case with bookings for theatre/cinema etc.):eek:0

What about those who use Ryanair from outside the UK? Presumably they can't apply for this "new" prepaid card as they have addresses overseas? Ryanair have already dramatically cut their flights to/from my airport in Spain, now this. Those on the forum who say "use another airline" are right..if only we could. Ryanair is the only company that flies to our area.0

Total non sense.
The costs are passed to the customer through higher priced goods.
Supermarkets don`t charge for cc card use but put their prices up to compensate and that way we ALL pay, not just the card users.0 -
