I have been with them for 2 years and have the XL package - broadband - Telephone - and 2 mobile phones..... They said my contract isn't up till July so they just aren't interested0
-
I thought their contracts only ran for a year. We've been with them for years since they were Cable & Wireless and NTL.0

Sorry Guys/Girls,
Must have just got the right person on the right day.
Didn't do the "thinking of leaving you" routine, did the "existing customers getting Sh@~ty end of stick and been with you along time" routine.
Keep calm and explain your position and ask them to improve your current package by reducing the monthly price. You will still pay the £50 activation fee or what ever they call it..........but the reduction will soon pay for that!!!!!!!!!0 -
Albeit I have been with them for 2 years they did a reduction in July hence the contract expiry change - will try again tomorrow.... I had a Scottish guy on the phone - seeing how Im Scottish too I thought he could have sorted a "deal"0

Called again today, went to disconnection dept... Quoted that its free on the site... AND I WAS OFFERED IT... Didn't even need to ask
Tivo 500Gb and V+ moved for £3 a month, get in
Thanks to all0 -
Phone again and ask for the earliest installation date. They obviously get cancellations as my installation got brought forward a few weeks when I rang.
Depends if it's a full install or a one man upgrade job.VM got rid of 80% of the two man crews years ago when they stopped expanding, now the's a fraction of them left.
If it's a full install then the wait will be longer than the wait for a one man upgrade so the chances of a cancellation will be much less.0 -

:j Congratulations. You have to be pushy nowadays. Businesses need to realise they can't carry on making huge profits. VM's quite a luxury in a recession.0 -
This thread has been really helpful. I has spoken to VM on several occasions over Xmas and getting different package options with different prices. Taking the advice on here I rang again and chose the option 'thinking of leaving' and mentioned where I had seen 'free installation' for new customers. I have been a customer for a number of years, but spoke to a very helpful guy (Ben Mills) who offered:
Upgrade to M+ TV (you need this for Tivo)
Upgrade to L Broadband
Replacement of old box to Tivo and 1 additional Tivo box for another room
Free Installation/Activation
Could have had it all done within days but they are coming next week when I am at home.
All this for £10 extra a month. Well pleased - so thank you all.0 -

Similar for me, called today after reading this thread, very helpful guy said he can sort out the free installation. As I'm on the VIP package the £3 per month fee is reduced to £1...it all helps :T0
