  • oh yes..they're moving ours too. Trouble is our remote is broken..well the dog chewed it! I'm hoping the engineer has a spare one in his van. Any other ideas how to get hold of one for the HD box if not..I assume virgin charge an arm and a leg.

The engineer should have spares as they come separate from the boxes.Failing that ring up & say the remotes not working, you've changed the batteries & the red lights not coming on when you press any of the buttons.
Unlike Sky you rent the equipment from VM,you don't own any of it,so they're replacing something that they own if it breaks.
  • Phoned yesterday and got tivocoming downstairs and new v+ box upstairs, installed and activated free. Thank you for all the great advice!

I went into my local VM shop and whilst they could increase my package, they couldn't reduce services to suit the Tivo deal I was after and insisted that the install fee was set in stone and no way round it. I called up CS and got through to disconnections saying I rely on my freeview PVR but it has died on me and I'm not in a position to replace it which leaves me 1 of 2 options, cancel VM deal and get a new PVR or get a Tivo. a few punches on her calculator pulled up a better monthly deal than I'm on now, £32.90 with Tivo fee against £33.90. She mentioned the install fee to which I said I don't want the deal if that applies, I was put on hold while she spoke to her manager and 1 minute later the install fee was waived. I got her to confirm that all I'd be paying was £32.90/month with no other fees twice and had a postive response both times. Only downside is I have to wait a month for the engineer to call.
  • Great thanks alot..............that worked atreat. Got put through to somebody who reduced my montly payments by £10 from £59.90 to £50.90 including the £3 Tivo charge, still have to pay the £49.95 installation though. Coming a week on Friday.
Will be in profit in 4 months.
12 month contract and price fixed for 2 years!!!!!!!!!!!!
I spoke to a very nice lady calld Leanne

Phone again and ask for the earliest installation date. They obviously get cancellations as my installation got brought forward a few weeks when I rang.
  • My call went as follows

I see on your website that you have an offer for free install and activation on tivo

    Yes for new customers

Why are current subscribers being victimised by this offer

Sorry - but I cant do anything

Spoke to manager - again no joy

SO WHAT DID YOU DO TO GET IT AHHH -(pulling hair out)

You must choose the option for "if you are thinking of leaving Virgin Media" to get through to the UK call centre. It helps if you've been a customer with a large bundle for a long time.
