Thanks for the rant;) feel better now?:D I do hope so:rotfl::D

No 1 not sure what you mean instructions for the shower? Did that, never knew that the wiring was wrong, not an electrician, idiot about that oh yes because I am not an electrician:D

2.Safety yes, electrician changed unsafe wire, not all wire as wire is 6 down below so the unsafe gone

3.Manufacture in writing which one? Not one person wrote to me, not triton, not the electrician? It is my fault the wiring is wrong? Oh yes of course I must have known the same as if my car stops working I must know what the engine noises are telling me because I drive it or because I am a mechanic?

4 Triton said get the wiring fixed and we did

I am to blame, I never followed or opened the manufacturers instructions;)

The instructions are the book that came with the shower these specify the size of cabe, I seem to remember the Triton ones state 10mm to be used

2.Safety yes, electrician changed unsafe wire, not all wire as wire is 6 down below so the unsafe gone
Still NO RCD- required for saftey

Oh yes of course I must have known the same as if my car stops working I must know what the engine noises are telling me because I drive it or because I am a mechanic?

4 Triton said get the wiring fixed and we did, they also issued instructions re RCD.

  • I'm not trying to needle people here, but just because I run my own business doesn't mean i'm loaded.

It does mean that I can pick and chose my cleients, just as customers pick and choose their electrician

I don't work 24/7 and choose to have a family life (phone goes to voicemail 8pm-8am), and I don't work weekends

I have 4 kids ranging from <1 to 15, so i'm definaltely not loaded

My point is really- if you had the job done correctly first time you would not have been required to pay Triton as any fault with the shower would have been with the actual shower

You can't justify 'not opeining the instructions' and then moaning when the install fails due to an increased load. Surely the guy that fitted the shower should have noticed that the cable was too small for the shower you have
The fact that you can post here means you have enough reading skills and common sense to read instructions and find out anything you need online

True should have read them, called triton falsely expecting it to be the shower as was none the wiser, triton came and triton said no the wiring, look, so we called the electrician, never once knowing it was that, wasted £68 our own fault you could call it, yes it was, if we were any kind of knowledgeable people about wiring or had googled or had a slight inkling that it was the wiring I would never have wasted completely and utterly wasted £68 for the triton man to come into my home for all of 2 mins and laugh at me.........

True again but the guy that put in the shower sold us the house and left....

We never once thought to ask even though yes we had a survey etc we forgot to ask 'hey could you tell me if this shower here has the right cable to it please?'

  • I see alot of this (people tart up houses and it looks good, but unravels shortly after).

You should get to know friendly tradespeople- a pet electrician, plumber, gas fitter etc

For my customers I offer a short visual check (with testing) for very little cash

Can you tell I am in a panic thinking me and the kids could have been burnt down?
By the sounds of it, you should still be in a panic about this. You still have a shower that's not installed properly and potentially dangerous to you and your kids.

I absolutely get that and tomorrow I promise an electrician is coming, not the one we originally started with because OH says how can we bring him back when we agreed that he was the man for the job and did it as we had agreed?

It is not as if we can prove he has done a less than satisfactory job is it?
