Did you know that it's possible to believe in God AND the big bang theory?
Just throwing that out there...
Also, Johnnyboyrebel, if you're going to argue against religion, it might help if you understood what you were talking about.
Jesus, the son of God, died on the cross. Not God himself. God is eternal, so it'd be a bit sh*t if he died, like.
On the seventh day, God created nowt, on the seventh day, he rested, thus why Sunday is a 'day of rest' traditionally.
It was on the first day that God declared "let there be light..."
Just saying...0 -

Jesus is God though, God the son the second member of the trinity. Jesus the man died while Jesus as God is eternal.
Actually strictly speaking Saturday is the seventh day and the sabbath.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

Strictly speaking, yes, but thanks to the Romans (I think) the Sabbath became Sunday, and is now (by most Christians, anyhow) celebrated on a Sunday.
Also, Jesus was the son of God, and therefore a part of God, but not actually God himself (thus Jesus was not omnipotent, omniscient etc)0 -
lso, Jesus was the son of God, and therefore a part of God, but not actually God himself (thus Jesus was not omnipotent, omniscient etc)
And this is where the bible slips up on its lies. We were taught God and Jesus were one in the same yet on other occasions or in a talk from the priest (sermon or whatever it is called) Jesus was the son of God. I know its not real but at least keep some consistency.
I dont follow religion, I only recall various parts of the story from when I was younger so how on earth would I would remember every fact??
As stated time and time again, there is no argument against religion as it is not true. Anyone who states otherwise wants locking up in a padded room. Why is it that alien believers and the like state their "beliefs" and are branded as nutcases yet christians air their views and it is perfectly fine. There is certainly more likelihood and evidence of aliens!0 -

Sunday is the day of rest yes as we celebrate the resurecction but that doesn't make it the sabbath.
Jesus is fully God and therefore He is omnipotent etc. All three parts of the trinity are God.johnnyboyrebel wrote: »And this is where the bible slips up on its lies. I wouldn't brand anyone with such language even if they believed in aliens. To say someone needs locking up in a padded room insults both Christians and those with mentla health problems.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I see johnnyboyrebel's back to his old tricks of insulting anyone he disagrees with. First it was "religious nut", then it was swearing, now it's people needing to be locked up in a padded room. He still doesn't comprehend that it is possible to debate any topic without resorting to insulting those he disagrees with.0

Ahh, Johnny. I may believe in religion, and I'm proud to say I do. I have a belief in a higher power, someone who helps me in my hour of need, something that comforts me.
I'm also well educated, and believe in the big bang theory etc.
You see, I have my beliefs, and I don't force them on anyone. I don't condemn people to hell for not believing what I believe, I accept their difference of opinion, and often have some enlightening conversations about others' beliefs. I was raised to be accepting and tolerant.
You, on the other hand, were clearly raised to be ignorant and disrespectful of other's faith. Who are you to judge me based on my beliefs? Only God's judgement matters to me.
You are annoyingly intolerant, and if either of my sons grow up to be anywhere near as bigoted and disrespectful as you, I will consider myself to have failed as a mother and a role model.
I don't care if my boys are gay/straight/bi/TS/TV or whatever, and I don't care what religion (or lack thereof) they end up believing in, just as long as they grow up respectful.
You, perhaps, need to re-evaluate your attitude, as you are much more of a "nut" and in much more need of being locked up than the religious people you happily judge!0 -

This concerns you, because you find a mystical floating head with absolute power more plausible.
Okaaaaay - so let me get this right .... it's okay to slag off Christian beliefs in response to saying that IN MY OPINION marriage should be between man and woman! Wierd Factor 1 that that's alright! But why should your "opinion" be more than other people's? You're welcome to live your life as you wish and marry a heterosexual partner, but if you're going to tell other people what to do you're going to be called bigoted unless you can justify your beliefs with a bit more than bold, underlined capital letters.
How the heck did I tell anyone what to do? I told you what my opinion was - AND MADE IT CLEAR IT WAS MY OPINION. Which I'm entitled too
Quite frankly if you two are gay then no wonder I think you're wierd and it's got nothing to do with who you choose to shag!!!!:cool:0 -
Gay marriage involving religion should be at the discretion of the religion involved.
(In my opinion, all religions are superstition, so as far as I am concerned it dosn't matter.)
However, for every civil law in Britain, same-sex marriage should enjoy the same rights as male/female marriage and vice versa.0 -
If you re read my post the choice refers to gay practise not the state of being gay.
This separating of being gay from having same sex relationships is very questionable. I think as an idea it hurts people because sexuality isn't a superficial thing, it's part of who each person is and greatly tied up in their hopes for relationships and romance and how they view themselves. Unfortunately gay and bisexual people who are told it's fine, just as long as they don't have any kind of intimate relationships together probably don't feel accepted or liked by whoever is saying this.
Anyway, I don't like pressure on people to change or conform with ideas that may not be their own because it is harmful to people to judge them for doing whatever it is that's natural to them and benign. It's fine to be whoever you are, with one caveat, how it affects other people is important. Treating other people unfairly is not acceptable, but everything else should be free choice. So, if people of the same sex want to have consenting relationships together, I don't see that anyone else has any right to hold an opinion on their behaviour.0
