At the end of the day, even private organisations are subject to the law, and discrimination's illegal.
I am not sure how the definition of "religious groups" is applied under the current discrimination laws (from which they are exempt) but I think that seems to suit the majority. I suspect it is defined as a recognised mainstream religion with a reasonable following.0 -

Its like there is no explanation left for believing christianity so it is down to, "well i cannot be that silly as other people believe the same." Other people are sheep and will believe anything when they are at the lowest in their lives cue religious cults etc.
This thread kind of reminds me of the Louis Theroux episode on the Westboro Baptist Church. Time and time again, the members made ludicrous statements like "fags should die" and they turned up at soliders funerals to rejoice as they thought when someone died (anyone) it was "God's will" so they should celebrate. Time and time again Louis pointed out how ridicuous this sounds however there is no talking to them. They believe what they believe and that is it, even though it is clearly bull. (they even claimed Barrack Obama actually is the devil) I'm sure this looks crazy to anyone including Christians so now you know how you look to non religious people. It is this lack of seeing how utterly ludicrous some of your statements are that means this thread is a no go as it will always be "us against you".
You state you have not actually shared your views so any reference to "you" is anyone with a religious belief, not you specifically. Although it is perfectly clear which way your bread is buttered so not sure how you can claim not to have shared your views.
Religion is very much like me stating !!!!!!!s are red' when clearly they aren't and when people point out they aren't I argue infinitely that they are. is this basic enough to understand our points???
You missed the whole nuance of that comment.
Which was, if someone doesn't believe, and doesn't want to meet the criteria for church "membership" why on earth would they still want to avail themselves of a wedding with a religious aspect?0 -
How are the religious not being considered here? They can get married just like atheist heterosexuals. And if gay marriage were legalised, any church/temple/whatever that wanted to could marry a gay couple.
.
I have stated I personally have no objection to a civil gay marriage, none at all.
I just want the churches protected in law from any legal challenge which could (and would arise) if/when they exercise the choice in a manner the gay lobby doesn't like.;)0 -
Don't worry poet123. I doubt there are many gay people who would want to get married in or by one of your brainwashing houses anyway. Being gay and growing up surrounded by religious bigotry tends to result in most gays realising how disgusting organised religion is.0

I not even going to get into the religous debate on this thread, Im fully awear that not everyone will share my views and no matter what I type, it will not change anyones mind.
Sorry, it is that irrelevant I don't recall the ins and outs.
This doesn't answer my question. Try to look at your beliefs from another angle and anyone that states it isn't crazy talk is lying.0 -
These are really bigoted views, which, if expressed by someone religious about those who are not would be decried as unacceptable. Seems the reverse does not apply.
??
They are coming from someone looking at peoples beliefs in a logical light. If you believed that, for example, the big bang theory was how it all started then you have a scientific, logical opinion therefore of course noone can question that. But to state a man on his own created the entire universe within 7 days and on the 7th day he created light (which meant he worked for the first 6 days in the dark - even more impressive!!) and you then have a talking snake etc. etc. is clearly madness and how you expect people not to question this kind of nonsense is beyond me.
The problem here is logic, you will never look at this logically and will instead just play the "this is my opinion" card when you have no logical answer. I could state that my "opinion" is that horses evolve from trees. Of course this is utterly nonsense and I would expect nothing less than for people to question my beliefs and state how nonsense they are.
Religion is no different.
Logically it's !!!!!!!!.0 -

It is the content and language used which evidences bigotry, not the underlying opinion.0 -
