I apologise to anyone who feels the need to call me a bigot and is upset my any of my posts. I am giving the facts as they are so if this upsets you maybe certain things need to be questioned?

Ah, but according to dictionary.com you are a bigot:

"a person who is intolerant of any ideas other than his or her own, esp on religion, politics, or race"

Your posts (which I've read, before you ask me again to read them) show you're intolerant of Christians - you can certainly state you don't believe in God, that's your prerogative. But you don't stop there, you carry on by insulting us (needing to locked in a padded room). Do you honestly believe this shows that you're tolerant of Christians? Would it be acceptable for me to say that all gays should be locked in a padded room? No, that would be a bigoted, intolerant thing to say. So why do you think it's acceptable to say that Christians should be locked in a padded room?

As for you giving the facts regarding religion, again you are wrong - you are only giving us your opinion. Can you prove or disprove the existence of God? No, you can't. Just like the rest of us. So how can you then state that religion is not true, given that you can't prove it one way or another? You do realise that just because you believe something to be a fact doesn't actually make it a fact, don't you? Likewise, I don't believe in aliens, but that's my opinion - I can't say for a fact that they don't exist. I also don't believe in gay marriage, but again that's my opinion - I can't say for a fact that it's wrong.

the issue here is that being gay isnt natural. no other animal decides to have a relationship with another male.
thats because all animals work on instinct.
    humans have a choice.

So what about the hundreds of animal species that engage in homosexuality?

And I'm not sure what "acting on instinct" means - isn't that all that humans do? Humans' logical decision processing may be more sophisticated than in less intelligent animals, but surely our "instinct" is what drives us? In people, it's more often called "personality", of course.

And who are you to say that being gay "isn't natural" and that you should be able to control other people's lives to prevent anything "un-natural"? If your measure of something's "naturality" is its existence in the animal kingdom, then cooking food isn't natural, wearing clothes isn't natural, speaking a language isn't natrural, believing in God isn't natural, etc.

Sorry, but your argument has no logical foundation and is completely incoherent.

In fact their take was that you were so anti religion because of family issues not religious issues per se.

You just cannot see the logic can you? I am not anti-religion, I don't care less what people believe as stated numerous times. All I am saying is that Christianity is clearly based on a story and not true. This is not "my opinion", it is common sense/logic. Noone needs to prove that a story is not real as if there is no evidence of it then it is not real, simple as that. Aliens, there is evidence of, bigfoot there is evidence of (ok I am clutching at straws here) God, there is no evidence of.

I have no family issues. As stated previously I was brought up a Christian but saw the light when I grew up. I was not brought up in a school with nuns for teachers etc. I was simply brought up as a run of the mill Christian.

How ridiculous, there is no comparison. Being gay is simply the way someone is born, choosing to believe in a story is clearly not. You may aswell state "all women need locking up", clearly this is utterly garbage.

If it makes it more acceptable for you to understand, from a logical point of view it is highly (very highly) unlikely for God to be real. There is no arguing against this as logically what can you say? "well it might be real" Ok it might be real but it is much more highly likely that it is not. Another example, if I stated I believe in ghosts then people have the right to say I'm a crank and I'm sure people would which wouldn't matter to me one way or the other as I believe what I believe. Bring christianity into it and it is war. What is the difference? There isn't one. If you promote crackpot theories then someone at some point will tell you to stop talking rubbish.
  • The funniest part of this whole thread is I made one comment that Christianity is one big story and people must be crazy to follow it. The only reason this is still going is because of the hostility from Christians who insist black is white.

Anyway, back to topic. Homosexuals..... yes they should be able to marry.

this possibly leads to the conclusion that gay is a choice, that would make an interesting science documentary.

skip to 40 seconds and watch this brief, funny and reasonable, clip.

Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you

We'll leave it there now, only comments related to the original topic will be responded to. Again, if anyone was offended by my posts then I apologise. There is no nasty reasoning behind it. If peoples beliefs are so strong should they be offended or upset? I think not unless something hit home.

No, it is just your opinion, really, it is. For you to keep saying otherwise just makes you look rather foolish.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. You do understand that concept?

Are any of your family still Christians? If so, do you believe they should be locked up in a padded room? I'm sure family reunions are a hoot. Or maybe they've ostracised you for being offensive with your views. You have told them about your views, haven't you?

    So according to you, saying:

"all gays should be locked in padded rooms" is utter garbage
"all women should be locked in padded rooms" is utter garbage
"all Christians should be locked in padded rooms" is okay

And you wonder why I think you're a hypocrite :rotfl:
