Thats what civil partnerships give them.

And you're still in denial. Mind you, living with this sort of confusion can take years to sort out. Best get moving! Go on! Give them a ring. It's the first step on a wonderful journey of discovery."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
I could not begin to explain on here, a public forum, lest i get 7 years for daring to speak up for the vast majority that think and say that homosexuality is wrong, which it is.
You would only get "7 years" for causing alarm or distress, or inciting violence wouldn't you? Which presumably means that you have no rational argument to support your opinion - you just want to shout a load of abuse. If you're unable to defend your opinions, then it goes without saying that their validity is highly questionable and you risk being perceived as a fool.
Out of interest, do you consider non-human homosexuality to be "wrong" too? What about the asexual reproduction of plants? Is the natural world un-natural in your eyes?0 -

I dont really care if the OP is gay or nor that is their business and not for us to speculate. However I agree that gay people should be allowed to marry and not have to make do with a 'Civil Ceremony', as gay people pay taxes like the rest of us and yet our Government in their infinate wisdom decides to grant them a 'Civil Ceremony'. Going off on a bit of a tangent - the faster religion is removed from our laws the better off we will be!
If i offend any person(s) with this post please accept my apologies this is just a topic that I am vocal about!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

marriage=religous ceremony.
religion doesnt allow gay marriage.
do the maths.
gay partnerships....now thats fine, anyone can partner anything afterall.
if i was gay, why would i want to get married when the institution of marriage has condemned me since time began?
yet...wouldnt it be funny if gay marriages actually worked? i.e. their 'divorce rate' was far less than normals?
that would be something!
to all you gays...why would you want to be like us? living in misery? stay unmarried and have a ball!Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

mar·riage/ˈmarij/Noun
1. The formal union of a man and a woman, typically recognised by law, by which they become husband and wife.
2. A relationship between married people or the period for which it lasts.
Nothing religious about it.
I got married in a non-religious ceremony. I have a marriage certificate. I am married.
I believe that same sex couples getting married in a civil ceremony just sign a civil union register, and do not get a marriage certificate.0 -

Yes.
Civil partnership ceremonies were IMO a way for the Blair government to avoid annoying certain churches... -- it is petty and mean to deny gay partners the term "marriage".
And it's more than the word that's denied. When I Googled "gay civil partnerships" to check the law I found this little item of breaking news
>>>>>>>>
The Church in Wales is to consider giving pensions to the partners of gay clergy.Currently, surviving partners of gay clergy can claim a pension calculated from 2005, when civil partnerships became legal.
Heterosexual widows or widowers can claim pensions based on their late spouse’s working life.

it's about time this kind of discrimination ended.

Depends who you marry innit. Lots of people like being married. I do!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Goodness! I thought it was only GR and Saga that had threads like this

If two people love each other, support each other, enjoy each other and wish to marry, then I don't care what gender they are
and I suspect that the compassionate God I believe in (most of the time) would rather sanction that type of relationship than some of the appalling 'straight' marriages where one or both partners have married for the 'wrong' reasons and at best 'tolerate' each other and at worst hate each other.
