Should gay marrige be allowed?

Religion is inherently contradictory anyway, so I really can't see why there's a problem with gay marriage. Doesn't the Bible also say "an eye for an eye" but to "turn the other cheek"?
I was always taught that "eye for an eye" was not meant to encourage retaliation, but meant to limit any punishment (in a 'punishment fitting the crime' way)
ie Not "If someone takes your eye, you take theirs"
But "if someone takes your eye, you cannot kill them. The maximum you could do is to take their eye"
However, a true person of God would choose forgiveness, not retribution.0 -
er what would they be
I could not begin to explain on here, a public forum, lest i get 7 years for daring to speak up for the vast majority that think and say that homosexuality is wrong, which it is. The only people who speak in defence of it are public sector indoctrinated workers crying outrage to justify their job's. None job's that is.

Ha ha - why on earth would you say that "homosexuality is wrong"? I don't understand why you would care about other people's amorous feelings or (if you're referring to sex) where they put their penises. Why would you be interested in such matters?!0 -

As a Catholic girl who received a great grammar school education, and is most definitely not a "public sector indoctrinated worker", I don't think homosexuality is wrong.
As someone who is bisexual, and also married a bisexual man, it's the most natural thing in the world.
What's un-natural is being disgusted by something you don't, and have never bothered to try to, understand.0 -

If I turned up to a cricket match with a cricket bat, wicket, and ball with the intention of playing then I can join in. If I turn up with a football and insist on kicking the ball at the stumps whilst everyone else is trying to play cricket then.....
If you claim to follow a faith then at least stick to the tenants (I don't know if thats how you spell it but you know what I mean) of that faith. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all forbid the practice of Homosexuality. To have a religious element from any of those faiths in a Gay "marriage" would be a joke. It would be like having an element of Klu Klux Klan ritual at a black wedding, or a rabbi in a nazi uniform at a Jewish wedding, just for them to show that they are integrating with other elements of wider society.
There is nothing wrong with being gay, far from it. God has made these people this way as a test of character, to see if inspite of their nature they can refrain. If the question is should gay people be allowed to have a legal status for their long term relationships then I have no problem with that. Religious recognition depends on the teachings of that faith, and should be left to the religious leaders of that faith. Don't ask the ECB to express an opinion on the offside rule, and don't ask FIFA to give a ruling on the finer points of the LBW rule.
While I do agree to an extent.... if you choose to follow a religion that looks down on homosexuality, then you would rather be failing at doing so by supporting it.
However, religion IS just a choice. One person may choose to live their life based on one portion of the bible, someone else may choose to live theirs based on the teachings of Dr Who.
Homosexuality isn't a choice though, no more than skin colour is. As a result of this, religion can be called into question, because let's face it, even if ONE religion is right, they can't all be right, so a huge portion of people who are trying to be holier than thou are going to experience damnation (or its equivalent) anyway.0 -

Aww, denial's part of these feelings of confusion and inadequacy, as is excessive defensiveness. Chat to the counsellor about it when you go. I'm sure they'll put your mind at rest
