Should gay marrige be allowed?

I think the OP should read the law on inciting homophobic hatred and especially trolling which due to the test case yesterday people can now go prison for.
How have i incited hatred?
as previously stated i want other peoples opinions.
There is no insulting post on here from me the only insulting posts are from some posters who support the subject.Vote YES to Scottish Independence in 20140 -

This is about a government consultation asking if gay marrige (with a religious element) should be made legal.
This is not to incite hatred as some posters have posted.
For me the issue is the religious element. If you are of a faith whose teachings do not forbid the practice of homosexual sex, then there is no problem.
If I turned up to a cricket match with a cricket bat, wicket, and ball with the intention of playing then I can join in. If I turn up with a football and insist on kicking the ball at the stumps whilst everyone else is trying to play cricket then.....
If you claim to follow a faith then at least stick to the tenants (I don't know if thats how you spell it but you know what I mean) of that faith. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all forbid the practice of Homosexuality. To have a religious element from any of those faiths in a Gay "marriage" would be a joke. It would be like having an element of Klu Klux Klan ritual at a black wedding, or a rabbi in a nazi uniform at a Jewish wedding, just for them to show that they are integrating with other elements of wider society.
There is nothing wrong with being gay, far from it. God has made these people this way as a test of character, to see if inspite of their nature they can refrain. If the question is should gay people be allowed to have a legal status for their long term relationships then I have no problem with that. Religious recognition depends on the teachings of that faith, and should be left to the religious leaders of that faith. Don't ask the ECB to express an opinion on the offside rule, and don't ask FIFA to give a ruling on the finer points of the LBW rule.0 -

To an extent I'd agree, but it seems that so much of religion is down to personal interpretation, which is why there are so many different denominations of Christianity - Anglicans, Roman Catholics, Mormons, Christadelphians, Greek orthodox, etc. Even amongst one denomination, ask a (non-trivial) theological question and you're likely to get a different answer from everyone.
So, if I were a gay man, who's to say that I don't believe more-or-less in Anglicanism with the exception that I think that gay marriage, and maybe even sex outside of marriage is fine? On those grounds, I don't think any kind of religious ceremony should be prohibited to a gay couple. Of course, they'd have to find an ordained/registered person willing to conduct the ceremony, but that's a different matter.
Religion is inherently contradictory anyway, so I really can't see why there's a problem with gay marriage. Doesn't the Bible also say "an eye for an eye" but to "turn the other cheek"?0 -
Replies to posts are always welcome, If I have made a mistake in the post, I am human, tell me nicely and it will be corrected. If your reply cannot be nice, has an underlying issue, or you believe that you are God, please post in another forum. Thank you0

Well I didn't mean it quite like that...
Maybe you should start a new religion based on the Biblical interpretation that God was speaking of the non-facial cheeks!
