I think disabled people are equal Ging , I would have no problem working for remploy, and I dont think you or anybody else should suggest that working for reploy is a worthy subject for p*** taking. Poor taste imo.0 -

Sorry, I'll drop the G but not the L.
I must have been thinking of Edinburgh...Scotland...Whisky...GlassAnger ruins joy, it steals the goodness of my mind. Forces me to say terrible things. Overcoming anger brings peace of mind, a mind without regret. If I overcome anger, I will be delightful and loved by everyone.0 -

Barcode wrote:It's not a political mission. All you need to do is be friendly and say 'If offered the job, I would need x,y,z to carry it out effectively'. If you don't disclose your disability, and are then offered the job, you may be in trouble that you did not supply the relevant information. It then costs the company time to either obtain the equipment, or find a replacement (and yes, if you lie, this is probably grounds for dismissal during the probationary period).
If it does 'get their backs up', do you want to be working for them in the first place?
That is all true.
Clearly employers who think disabled = big problems are clerly the hardest to tackle.:beer:0 -

It is fairly general knowledge that in recent years that reform of disability benefit is a big issue.:beer:0 -

My husband wanted to apply for a job whilst I was doing my masters. He found one paying well that would have been perfect. On the advert:
"this position is only available to women or those with a disability"
I have seen several like this. So tell me phil. How can we get a highly educated, very clever, hard working non disabled male into employment?
I know several disabled people of varying disability. All have had no problems getting jobs. In fact they seem to find it easier as some companies like to employ disabled people as it makes them look nice.0 -

Of course it is! Too many people are claiming it who shouldnt, and too many who are eligible don't 'qualify'.studentphil wrote:Since amongst government and society at general, having 2 million people on some sort of disability support benefits is seen as a bad thing.
How do we ensure disabled people get off state support and into meaningful jobs?
Stop paying fraudulent claimants, help those who could work, but need help, and leave those who cant work alone.
Easy. Vote me!!*** Friends are angels who lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly ***
