I would be lost without Lidl. I shop there all of the time. I can't quite get everything and my fave supermarket is Morrisons but I do get a few bits from Tesco or Sainsburys too. Just not every week. Lidl deals are really good.

We've got a Lidl nearby now so I've been in twice and been impressed both times. Did a thread about their tea bags yesterday so am going to give those a try next time I'm in. DH is now on their decaff instant coffee and says it's nice. He's previously been drinking Nescafe only bought when on offer.
  • Lidl and Aldi are great at what they do. I have shopped at both for as long as I can remember.

Yes, there is stuff I love, yes there is stuff I don't, but that's the same in every supermaket.

I know people I work with who used to tell me they wouldn't be seen dead in Lidl, but once the recession hit, oh how the tune changed. One even told me they would never shop there because she'd once seen someone walk in there wearing slippers??? BUT was more than happy when thier daughter got a job there.

I avoid lidl, aldi, netto and all the other budget supermarkets because they are scumbags.

As a truck-driver, whenever I deliver to their RDC's, I am told to get on a bay, go into the warehouse and tip my own trailer and put all the pallets in a neat row with all the labels facing in the right direction so the supervisor can check it off.

I refuse to do this, (mainly due to my disability), and was told to leave the site, which suited me fine. I'm a truck-driver, (the clue is in the name....I drive trucks) and I don't work in a warehouse and they're not using me as slave labour.

This is more about shopping there though not delivering.
  • I love Lidl's cleaning products, i usually make a trip there every 2-4 months, to stock up on everything i use.
I'm a vegetarian and find lidl very hard to use as a regular supermarket, because all i would be able to eat would be pizza, or soups.
But i think now people are struggling with their money, and food shopping is getting very hard to do on a budget, i've seen a huge change in people shopping in places like lidl or aldi.

Our Lidl is awful. I've gone after reading about some of their weekly items on here but ours never seem to have them.

I had always been told things like their chicken breasts were reconstituted chicken? Some people I know who go to our local one (quite small) avoid things like milk as they often got it home to find it was already off, their flowers and veg look half dead and when I had some meet at someone's house from their I couldn't identify it!

Things like their chocolates and that look very nice, to me it seems like one of those places you have to experiment and learn what's ok and what isn't. Some of the stuff is cheep in mine but I'm always surprised that a lot of it isn't cheeper than elsewhere

Isn't that the case with every supermarket?

Our local Lidl's staff seem happy enough.
Asda ( Walmart) have one of the world's worst employment records. Staff in our local morrisons are treated like crap.
    Sainsbury not much better.

Lidl and Aldi are the woolworths of grocers. Everyone likes to slag them off, and most secretly buy from them. Also have some of the best PC and laptop offers around
  • By the way, i've now tested the following products.

their fishfingers are superb and much cheaper than elsewhere.
Their dishwashing tabs work just as well as the Finish tablets I was paying a fortune for.
