Dear All,
Is it just me or does the Dolphin pay as you go plan clearly state that you get 100 MB of FREE:) internet use for a £10 top up each month?
Nowhere in the small print of the internet info or the posters or flyers in the shop does it say certain phones are not included
.
I recently explained to a salesman in Orange what I wanted, he suggested the Blackberry 8520 on pas as you go. I said is 100 MB enough to check emails, he said no problem.
Week later, went back to ask them to explain how to get on the net as I am bit techno useless. manager says, you need to pay £5/month to Blackberry to access web. So why does the big poster, all the literature and the salesman say web is free? Why is the phone in the section that has a big poster saying internet is FREE???!!! "You didn't read the terms and conditions"
. I have read all the small print I can find and nowhere does this info occur. They gave me an email address correspondence@everythingeverywhere which I have fired off an email to ask for an exchange/refund.
Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Internet is different to push emails. To access push emails, apps or BBM, you have to have a Blackberry specific bolt on. None of these fall under the web access bracketHave I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug).0

Without paying £5/month I have zero access to any web service at all, even tho Dolphin states here there and everywhere that internet is free for first 100 MB.0

I believe the Blackberry browser is also only accessed with the BIS bolt on. You can get Opera Mini which I believe you can still access the internet on without BIS but I could be wrong on that one. I'm very surprised the salesman didn't tell you that you would need an additional bolt on. 100mb data is generally enough to run a Blackberry but you need to pay for the access to their servers.Have I helped? You should have gone to Specsavers....actually no..
you should have considered T-Mobile. They are the only BIS service provider that doesn't charge you extra for actually using the Internet whilst using the service.
Not only that, but they give you six months of totally free usage after your first top-up on PAYG. After that, a very reasonable £20 for the next six months. I think they have a fair use policy of 500MB per month.
Look here
Even if Orange don't play fair and refuse to refund, you can still unlock the Blackberry and install the T-Mobile firmware on it.
So you won't lose out.0 -
BIS BBM Opera Mini
These are just words to me!:p
I just want to check emails on the go and paid 130 quid to do that and am no better off than before. Plus the manager kept repeating like a broken record, terms and conditions - I honestly cannot find any T+C about free web not being free for some phones .
Will keep you posted on orange reply.
cheers all0 -
Blackberry Internet Service
BlackBerry Messenger
Opera Mini - a mobile version of Opera web browser: http://www.opera.com/mobile/download/blackberry/0 -
You have two choices(other than if you are offered a refund), stick with Orange and pay £5 per month for access to the Blackberry Internet Service and use it conjunction with your 'free' 100MB of data or save yourself a headache and shift to T-Mobile as I've suggested.0

The Blackberry bolt on at £5 pushes the blackberry browser over its blackberry connection to the phone (along with BBM), if you dont have it you would need to install Opera mini to use the 100MB.
The 100MB inclusive is available on any handset, but the browser on a BB is a third party one without the Blackberry service activated.SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe0 -

Well maybe, tho Orange have taken over the local t mobile store as part of their merger...0
