  • That's brilliant! I would have no idea how to do that! We called for pizza on the first day we moved into our home 12 years ago, and things haven't got much better although Mr De Bris does excellent beans on toast :D

Best of luck to you and your OH in your new home. Hope you have many happy years together X

well done sb88!!! it took me years to learn how to do that! and I was already a fair cook! I used to do Sunday roast for my family - but the first meal I cooked for my OH was Sunday roast and I felt like such a success!
  • You should be proud - well done!

    Evening all,

Back from a trip to Makro - OH's wallet is £100 lighter!! got enough washing up liquid to last us till we retire i think!:rotfl:

Had burger and chips for dins as didnt defrost any chicken.

OH is back to work tomorrow after a long weekend, he starts maize harvesting, so back to never seeing him.

Not much OS today, didn't get a thing sorted i wanted to!

  • We are thinking along the same lines. I had a whole chicken for a single person and instead of eating roast chicken left overs all week I jointed it so I could casserole the legs. I was surprised how easily and quickly I managed to do it. Well done for doing this...98% of population wouldn't even try.

    Afternoon all,

Its been very windy now for the last 2 days, some trees down, but no injury to anyone so no problem really, did feel the need to light the woodburner in the kitchen and I can feel the heat through the house.....anything to postpone putting on the heat, need to pay €1560 for OH's new hearing aids this week, so don't want oil to pay for until next month at least.

Dinner to-night is roast chicken....small little thing but wasn't properly defrosted until a while ago so dinner will be later than usual for us, half a butternut squash and some French beans and home grown potatoes.....they popped up from somewhere in greenhouse, just enough for 1 meal but will be nice!

Take care all, hugs to all in need or want

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb
  • I remember the first chicken I roasted in our first home 30+ years ago - I was so proud of it until I carved it and discovered I had left the plastic bag of giblets inside!

Well done for starting off on the right foot, if you keep going like this your money worries will be few. I used to think my mum was so old fashioned when she said look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves - now it's the best piece of advice I could offer to anyone!
Oh dear, here we go again.
