You could auction it or exhibit it in a museum.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I went away and now I'm back.:j:j0 -

I'd use it too.0

I would use anything like that that's out of date: golden syrup, black treacle, honey, maybe even malt extract. The sugar content is so high that bacteria can't live in it, and nor can anything grow on it, so you should never find mould on anything like that.
Even so, I might baulk at eating something from 1908! :rotfl:
Didn't they find some honey in an Egyptian tomb?0 -

Did I read somewhere that they are now going to stop labelling foods as 'eat by....' and put something less specific because we're all wasting so much food because of these silly dates scaring us off perfectly good stuff. (Well of course we old ladies eat all sorts of old stuff and it doesn't kill us, but my daughters stick to the 'eat by...' dates religiously)
My hubby came home with a four pack of beer the other day. He doesn't usually buy beer so I asked him why. Apparently, one of the guys he works with, has a wife who bins things once they're past the BBE date (and sometimes before too  ). The date on the beer was end of October last year. Oh well, their loss is our gain! :rotfl:0 -
definately use it - I've just found a jar of Black treacle 2007 - shall be making Ginger bread today.:DWooligans member 2010 - 6 animal blankets. 2 angel wraps, 2 baby hat, 4 Aaron squares, 5 cardigans

Use it - the process of making it is akin to preserving, and it has been in a container which (by nature of syrup's stickiness!) will have self-sealed.....
Get it made into rice krispie cakes, and don't forget to lick the spoon!!0 -
I'd use it if it was hard, crystallised or cloudy, but would chuck if it had green/blue mould on or if there was a strong metallic smell from the tin. And I'd send the cakes to school too (having first taste tested to ensure I wouldn't poison the little dears!)0
