  • We also had a turkey pie at the weekend using a bag of Chrimbo meat that I portioned up and froze. Delicious. Got another bag in the freezer that will be used up next week probably. Could be curry, or another pie.

My mum has been known to freeze the turkey and serve it at Easter...

The Easter immediately following Christmas?

Or the one after that? :rotfl:

I've got pheasants in mine from a year ago :rotfl:

And I've eaten plenty of meat frozen 12 months ago. Sure, the quality is not at it's .... ahem ... "peak" :rotfl: but it gets made into something or other ;)

    e.g. pate/terrine

Got some real bargains at the whoopsie counter last night in Asda. In my hurry to cook and freeze everything that needed to be used yesterday I left a paket of mozarella cheese on the side and only discovered it this morning. I have put it straight in the fridge but don't know if I should chance it.

It is unopened and is the ball of cheese in liquid, full fat and has a use by of today. My kitchen is a bit on the cold side so I'm thinking it might be OK.

What do you all think, would you???? Would it smell off or taste funny, what is the worst case scenario, is cheese risky? I was planning to cook it if that makes a difference.

    Thanks in advance x

I'd still use it - I'm sure it'll be fine.

Unless is looks moldy, I'd eat it. And I wouldn't expect it to go off because of 1 night out of the fridge.
Also wouldn't worry too much about the expiry date, should be okay for another week or two.

Good, that's what I thought. I'll give it a good once over before I use it!
  • :) How do you think people managed before they had fridges? People have been eating cheese for millenia but fridges have only been around for about 90 years.

    It will be fine.
  • Always remember: look, smell, taste. If none of these pass regardless of what food you are worried about then bin it otherwise it should be OK.

As the weather is still quite cold food left out over night should be alright to eat unless of course you leave the heating on throughout the night.
  • Is there mould on it? Does it smell exceptionally bad for cheese? If not, it should be ok

It'll be fine. If it looks ok, sniffs fine, I eat it
