My first proper job was in Birmingham! Near Five Ways. Hope this has all gone well.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

We once stayed in Student Accom near Five Ways when we were at a conference - we looked on the map and decided to walk to the NIA - bad move! But we did go past the cricket ground.
Meeting went OK, normal team stuff, but then had review meeting which went well.
Today I am in Cornwall, and had to drive down scary country roads in the dark so wasn't very happy. I'm used to proper roads with street lights!

I watched Kirstie too - there is no way she should have won.... the woolly cushion was the best!!
She does have lots of money but presumably the costs of all the training she receives is paid for as part of the TV production so not her problem!! I like her series better than location location tho.... I always found HIM particularly annoying...
Looking forward to watching covert affairs when that starts next week and I think there is another new show starting soon. The kids have also got me into watching BigBang Theory which is a big improvement on being made to watch reruns of scrubs and friends all the time!Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

The scary roads must have been draining - hope you feel perky today!
Kirstie .... seemed like she won in the first eppy for real - you can't fake tears like that, not *those* sort of tears. I only watched the intro before the credits of the one last night, so didn't know she'd won again. She's getting a *lot* of one to one attention, so its possible, I suppose, but hmmm....2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
In the cake baking one, the tasting was done 'blind' so I think that was genuine. Some of the others though have had names on them, so you do wonder.
Its not so much the special training she's getting, but also some of her stuff isn't that great. There was other craft stuff better than hers in a few of the episodes.
Anyway, enough of Kirstie - I'll watch it again in catch up because it does give you ideas.
Despite the scary road, the hotel was gorgeous. It was really near the sea (apparently!) so lots of people with surf boards etc. and has a spa so caters for spa breaks. Really comfy bed, although as is usual, it was quite high.
Hotels in Cornwall though mainly cater for holiday trade, rather than business people, so there were little niggly things like:-
nowhere to put your laptop! There was a desk, but it was more a hall console table thingy.
Restaurant wasn't open until 8am - I don't eat breakfast, but I do like decent coffee and the stuff in those little sachets is generally awful.
They provided free shower gel, shampoo and conditioner - in full size containers screwed to the wall. But there was nowhere to put your own stuff, so it had to go on the floor.
That sounds like a moan, it wasn't meant to be.
Driving to the client in the morning, I got a proper view of where I'd been the night before - in some ways its was easier at night because you could see headlights for miles!
Drove home last night, got in at about half ten, having given in and stopped in the services when I hit the M6 as tiredness hit me.
Working from home today, so may pop back later.

8am! Thats late for a hotel breakfast! I'm seeing the hotel as one of those white painted art deco things, perched on a cliff. In any case, it sounds beautiful.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
