• DH has a card with the same company as the one who have locked me out of my credit card, I went online to increase his direct debit last month and they haven't changed it!! So I had to transfer the balance to my account and then make a card payment, anyway all done now. Both of DH c/c payments are done for the month so he is now sub £5k. Woohooo! Only 3 more payments and then it will be one less c/c!

Need to go shopping for my niece's bday prezzie this weekend and will pop to the C@rd factory to stock up on 7 cards for £1. Will use my cashback earned so in effect it will be free, just limited to where I can spend it but that shouldn't be a problem.

Hopefully should be a quiet weekend..... swimming, shopping, hoover, mop, bday tea and finish driveway....as I said quiet weekend :-)
    DFD September 2017
  • Well the weekend was de railed slightly by both dh and ds being sick on Saturday morning. So no swimming, the only shopping I did was popping out for a bday present for my niece as it was her birthday on sunday, I didn't hoover or mop and the driveway isn't finished.

We did managed the birthday tea , the house viewing , a cinema trip and a cheap meal out.

The house viewing has confirmed our plan for the house move which is sell up next summer, rent in the same area as ds goes to school and build up our deposit and then look for something bigger than we can currently afford (limited by our lack of deposit not the amount we can borrow) We have looked at what we could afford in 12 months time and it simply isn't big enough we would be itching to move again in 12/18months, and the amount that we would have paid off the mortgage in that time would be wiped out with selling/solicitors fees. So it's probably the one time that renting isn't a waste of money plus it means we can move quickly (houses are selling in a week!!) and have no chain. So that's the long term plan.

Not much to report in MSE world, the banks are behaving, it's pay day for me next Wednesday, I still haven't received the referral money from the insurance company!! my ISA is active again and I received confirmation that ds savings won't have interest deducted again.

Off to look for a recipe for something interesting for tea.

  • Interesting read in the weekly email about mortgages. It has just backed up own decision to rent while building up our deposit as this will save us a lot of money in the long run with a better interest rate, while being in our preferred area so we don't feel like life is on hold and giving us the option to move quickly if a property we like comes on the market.

Tea was lovely, honey sesame chicken with chilli and spinach brown rice and I used up the cauli and broccoli in the fridge so all very healthy. Tonight is lasagne with some tender stem broccoli.

DH was very impressed at me finding the motivation to do my shred dvd at 9.30pm last night, think he was a bit shocked! he doesn't normally get in until 10.30 but he's on a shift slide this week.

Going to have a play about with my budget based on dh predicted second job wage for the next 3 months, he has just done his rotas up to the end of the year, rather than his minimum 2 shifts a week. Should see a bit of a difference in the amount left over figure just need to decide where to put it to use it to our advantage.

  • Parents evening tonight so fingers crossed they think he is doing well after the issues we had at his last school. I can see a big difference in him he is so much more confident and enthusiastic with his reading.

Banks all as they should be. We have had no news yet about dh payrises but his manager at his second job had a chat with him off the record and indicated it could be around 50p/hr which is wonderful!! He is feeling so much more positive at the moment and has started to look to the future which I'm really happy about. Now he can see we are only 9 months away from being df he seems even more determined and is almost working 2 full time jobs with the extra hours he is taking on at his second job, as he says it's not forever.

Well hubby has heard from job nr 1 regarding his pay rise ....3.5% not great and less than he expected, the really annoying thing is that when he covers in the training department some of the people he is supervising get paid more than him. All very complicated due to a change in pay scales and dependent on relevant experience coming into the company but overall not very fair that someone who is deemed capable of training gets paid less than those they are training.

Anyway I'm hoping they have a big plan because he has been invited onto a pilot career development course and today he has been excused from his normal duties to attend a training course for the training department, he was specifically requested by the training boss.. it's not even his department!!...so I'm hoping that they are looking for him to move into training full time which would be more of a pay rise (different job title/pay scale)

Thanks again MSE I got £10 off feelunique so I got my favourite mascara for £15 and it was free because I had vouchers from when they had run out of a free gift I had ordered.

Finally got my £40 off the insurance company!!
