• At the end of the month after the credit cards payments have cleared we will have paid off over 25% of our debts!!

Quite an achievement when you look at what else we have done over the last few months, landscaped the back garden, new garage, landscaped the front garden, new driveway, surgery for the dog.... I think we are doing really well. The payments really ramp up now we have the house jobs out of the way we just need to keep our eye on the ball.

  • Looks like we may have ordered one pack of block too many for the driveway, which means we will be coming in under budget! Not by loads but enough to have a little woohoo!

Which basically means the bit of fencing that needs to be finished is already budgeted/paid for.

I also got a statement through for ds savings which has been taxed, so I've sent off the form to sort that out as it shouldn't be taxed.

My cheque still hasn't arrived from the tv/broadband company, I had a credit when the account was closed, so I have chased that up again!! I have also cancelled my gym membership, due to hubbys shifts I just can't find the time to go enough times in the month to justify it. I did however order some exercise dvd's.

My cashback is in the process of being loaded to my card so when that arrives I think a little bit of shopping is in order :-)

  • Banks all behaving . I need to arrange collection/delivery of the materials for the driveway but there is no access to our road at the minute as its being resurfaced so it will have to wait until next week.

Having my tyre replaced because I got a screw in it. Booooo!

I've just chased up some vouchers we are due. I referred hubby to take out his insurance with the same company as me, don't worry I had done all the comparisons and it worked out cheapest!! but we still haven't had them sent to us so I've dropped them an email. Its worth £40 so I sent 2 emails, one from each of us, to be on the safe side!!

Only 1 week until the last credit card payment goes through and I can officially say we have paid off over 25%. Woohoo.

My shopping card has been credited :-)

  • Grr got an email back from the insurance company about the vouchers. They very helpfully told me they don't have any offers giving customers vouchers, cue one very helpful email back from me with an email attachment showing them the email offer they sent to me!!! I have told them I am very disappointed threw in the word renege and told them I expected a more positive response.

I have drafted a full budget for next year for my banks, I still need to do hubbys but it looks like we could have a chunk of money saved by next xmas. It's only a draft at this stage as i need to look into hubbys bank and paying off the car and i may need to allow something in my budget to help him clear it. All budgeted for it just looking at what is better me paying or stopping his contribution to the bills, a lot of it depends of pay dates.

  • Full 2016 budgets done including debt forecast, dfd June 2016, including paying for our holiday. There is potential to bring that forward as hubby is having a pay review next month and I've forecast his second job on his part time hours, when he normally picks up a couple of extra shifts per month.

Big plans next year the aim is to finish the house by June/July, so around our dfd, and get the house on the market in summer hols. Then move closer to work/school in rented or buy depending on market. Houses are moving really quickly in the area we want and i want a good deal on the mortgage so we want to save a bigger deposit. Being in rented means we can move quickly if we need to as well as living closer to school and work and will also give us the option of building the deposit.

  • Well the email to the insurance company worked, £40 cheque on its way.

Hubby got a nice letter yesterday with a cheque for £65.59 from AI Scheme. Another thanks to MSE, I probably would have binned it thinking it was junk.

Hopefully the v1gin cheque will land next week as well. Total for the refund, vouchers and payout is £154.59 not to be sniffed at!!

  • V1gin cheque has turned up at last, payout from the A1 scheme has been banked so just the £40 from the insurance company now.

The driveway is progressing nicely almost finished so I have arranged for the collection/delivery of the last lot of materials.

Gym membership has been cancelled and my exercise dvds have turned up, done it twice now and OMG I am feeling the burn.....determined I will have my bikini body for the hols in June!!

We had a quiet weekend, hubby was busy working and then doing the driveway. DS had swimming and a party and I managed to squeeze in some xmas prezzie shopping and a food shop. So the banks are behaving themselves, they will be looking good when they get their little boosts from the payouts.

Hubby has decided to take on all the extra shifts he can between now and xmas and including xmas. The decision is for him to work as much as he can this year and then look at going away next year.

Off to update my xmas list with the prezzies I bought, already saving £17 from what I'd budgeted.

  • Almost the end of the month and October is going to be an interesting month for us, dh has pay reviews for both of his jobs so fingers crossers his employers are feeling generous!!

I'm feeling very motivated at the minute perhaps it's because I have been organised and sorted the budgets for next year and I can see not only the end but a time where we will have a decent amount saved so we can move house. Or perhaps it's because I've worked out they are only 9 more payments (1 a month for each card) until we are debt free, we are now in single digits!!!!! Well sort of, it's 10 more payments for the b@rclaycard as the september payment only goes out tomorrow but that's close enough for me.

Off to have a browse on r1ghtmove.....
    DFD September 2017
  • Last payment done, officially over 25% paid off and only 9 payments to each card left to go. Treated myself to a posh box of choccies, I know not very MSE, although they were 70% off, and not very clever considering my new workout DVD's but hey ho.

We are going looking at a house on Saturday, just to have a look at room sizes no intention of buying (browsing on r1ghtmove is dangerous!) which should help us decide our house buying plan/strategy. We have two options at the minute move in 12 months to a house at the lower end of our budget or sell move into rented (so we are in our preferred area) keep building the deposit and see what the maximum we can afford then is. I think a lot of it will depend what is on the market in 12 months but the house on sat will be typical of what we will be able to afford with the deposit we have saved.

    It's all looking good!!!

  • Pay day for hubby!! I've already been online and moved the money about to various different pots. I've also sent a form to reactivate the ISA for putting the holiday money into, which we start putting money aside for this month. This month dh overpayments go up so we should start to see big changes in our % paid off each month from now on. Without wishing our life away....roll on June 2016!!!!
